Re: Joint Operations - What do you think killed it?

Darn X, you probably wrote most of what I wanted, but I'll do it again.

This is a 5 year old game (around that). The servers that exist play the same set of maps over and over. I now play in IC where we get different maps, mostly never been played, every Sunday. I find it hard to go back to the general JO servers because it quickly becomes boring (not all, but most).

More servers don't make the difference, whether 100 man or 64, because of the reasons stated above. Orange Bowl seems to still be the standard for general public large attendance. If we created more, we would only drop the numbers down in Orange Bowl (or other popular large count servers) and we would be bored again because of the large maps. Hence, the IC tournament. We can predict the player size (generally over 150), select the map that is appropriate for the player size, and select the map with the assets we want to play, and all hacker free.

To get back to the question what killed JO, I don't believe it is killed. Just changed form. Now, if you want to engage the public I believe we need more map development and of them, standard rules to abide to so that the maps are playable (not glitchy) and fun. Make the map and they will come.

Well just to add to all the IC crowds comments, our server can hold upto 250 players at any one moment in time. I have been around the tourney and JO for many many years, I've seen many players come and go, the one thing that is not so evident in IC is hacking, Why i hear you ask, Well its simple IC is a team game and there is nothing to be gained by going rambo, that and the fact that the UN are constantly in spectator mode watching everything.

Those that have the game and are looking for some 1st rate quality FPS action should dither no more, get your asses in the damn game and kill someone.

      Hate

Oh and the reason JO disappeared of the global FPS map aside for everything everyone else said is that they stopped updating the punkbuster. Lets hope for their next game they get a good deal from a cheat stopping vendor

Also, a lot of persons are about to pay 60 bucks (or whatever is the price of a PS game) to buy MAG (a Playstation game with 256 slots server).
Well, for $15, you can get much better than that. That's called Joint Operations: International Conflict Tournament.

What could i say that has not been previously said,Yes the game is old but the concept is still as Strong now as it was back when it was released released large scale maps playable by up to 250 man severs. Most of all at the heart of JO is International Conflict the community that this Tourney has built up is second to none.I like to think that it has instilled in people that join it a sense of fair play, teamwork and tolerance of other players.IC has become my online family, the people that play it i reguard as my SISTERS and BROTHERS check it out you might find JO is still alive and kicking.
            Bytor out:salute:
International conflict the way JO was meant to be played.

JOTR is pure gaming at it's best.

This game is the typical proof of gameplay > graphics.

              COD and BF, take note.

It's great to here from the community that JO & JOE are not dead!
It was the first real multiplayer of it's type that got me "hooked"
and had me playing for hours on end but like the rest I had to see whats new and just let it go by the wayside. just recently moving some stuff around I came across my old discs and that led me here, i think it's time to get back into the fight and start enjoying it once again. Hopefully Novalogic will heed the need and make our dreams come true with a revamped JO style game, even it it's under another name.

Re: Joint Operations - What do you think killed it?

I, as suggested in an early post, played BHD when the demo first hit the shelves in the UK, moved onto JO after, then into IC. JO has survived my PS2, 2 PC's, BF2, my XBOX360 and my PS3 and all of the games that I have for those consoles. Even outlasting the titan of the GTA series. A million different ways to play, minimal frustration in playing and a worthy host in the IC tourney.
