Are you dissapointed at all?

Yeah I was just wondering, since I don't think there's too much wrong with this game, what other people found as a let down, or disappointment in BF2142. Whether it be the lack of a larger diversity in maps, or weapons, or maybe an unbalance in game play here and there. I can't say i've been disappointing too much. It could even be something like "I hate the voss" which I know a lot of people will say. But what kind of things annoy you in BF2142, that could have been prevented otherwise?

More non-sucky servers would do it for me, although that's less the game's fault and more the community's fault. Or is it?

Balance-wise, it's leagues ahead of BF2, so no complaints there. Not to say it couldn't use tweaking but overall it's great. You can crouch past APMs, orbitals aren't a guaranteed death sentence to all infantry in the same zip code, aircraft don't insta-kill any vehicle on the map like the almighty hand of God from 350m away, no insta-heal medpacks or insta-resupply ammo. The modern warfare theme is more pleasing to me than the futuristic setting but the superior gameplay more than makes up for it.

But since this isn't a 'which do you like more, BF2 or BF2142' thread I'll shut up now.

there are only a couple things i am unhappy about in terms of game items and those are:

pk rockets
doragon gunship


my biggest issues though is the game engine



scope glitches
view glitches
hit reg
inconsistent hit reg/ shooting mechanics
collision detection / getting stuck on stuff

jumping on / over certain objects/ platforming/ getting sucked down to the ground

people getting stuck inside the environment and are unable to be revived via defib



these things when they occur, really ruin the game for me. My enjoyment of the game comes from quick, fluid, suave, smooth, polished, practiced, perfected moving, shooting and operating. having a buttery, user friendly environment that provides a seamless gaming experience with a consistent reliable engine is very very important. at times i have hated this game engine very much.

unfortunately i am under the impression that EA/Dice is going to put a higher emphasis on pretty graphics over actual smooth, reliable, glitch free gameplay in thier next installment. i am starting to think BF3 will dissappoint me very much.

do you know you can suck them out of the enviroment with a medichub?

i have problems with score/view glitches, getting sucked into the ground, anything that comes from lag, but for anything else it is a great game.

the only dissappointment comes if a guy camps a ammo hub and kills you with 20 rockets after you killed 10 guys in a row.

at this point, my only gripes are on the technical side of things. imo, actual gameplay is pretty much satisfactory but when servers crash often, your game disconnects, and exploits and security holes are not promptly patched up, it takes away SO much from such a decent game. people having their accounts stolen and hacked is unacceptable imo at this point. and the promises to patch it up was too long ago yet, not released.

at one point, i had so many issues with this game not being perfect (just upset that a game with such potential was not getting the proper care it deserved), and i went out and bought BF2 (not having played it). after playing that game, i came to appreciate 2142 much more. i couldn't have any fun in BF2. the moment i got into a vehicle, i didn't last more than a minute because of the air power. and IO gets old after a while. 2142 is the game they successfully applied things they learned from BF2. it's a shame many didn't give it a proper chance. the huge success of BF2 was hurting 2142, and its become obvious that only a game like BF3 modern combat will dethrone it.

if i had to pick couple gameplay issues that can bug me at times, it's the lingering imbalance between the talon and doragon gunships (despite their efforts to previously fix it). other than that, the only thing i'd like is some way to alleviate nade spamming and nerfing of PK rockets. do those things, and fix the EU transport gun, and gameplay will be nearly perfect in my eyes.

the only obvious disappointment regarding 2142 is how it failed to live up to its potential. not sure if DICE was discouraged by the less than warm reception by the BF community, but it seems now that both have pretty much moved on.

BF2142 is the only game I've played where one person's common sense is another person's insanity.

As far as actual gameplay, this is by far the best game out there. Sure, some newer games have better graphics, but cannot even come close to the dynamic gameplay.

I just bought the game in December and was one of those BF2 fanatics that belived all of the negative hype that many in the BF2 community threw out when 2142 was first released. The first time I played 2142, I was blown away - it is such a far superior game than BF2, that it's hard to believe it's essentially the same game.

stability- never seen crashes like this until i started playing the battlefield franchise

security- seeing more & more hackers, but they always seem to be one step ahead of the creators

lighting- 1.5 screwed this up royaly. my fav is how shadows are now cast through solid concrete. if the sun is that intense, EU & PAC wouldn't be fighting for the few remaining locations not covered by ice because it would be melted for damn sure :laugh:

The lingering bugs kill me. Here's my list of gripes.

Why don't titan gunners get team kills? In every FF on titan sever I've ever been in that allowed titan movement, I've been teamkilled by clueless gunners.

Why are the gunships STILL unbalanced this late in the game.

Why does one transport gun STILL not work.

Why is it that I occasionally can't spawn on the titan.

Nade spamming needs a nurf

Clipping exploits still exist....

But all of that pales in comparison to what Shurikane mentioned. This is by far the most clueless and hostile community that I have played in. I've been gaming online for most of my adult life, and I have yet to run across a more petty group of people then I have in BF2142. The asshats used to be the exception, but now days I'm surprised when I meet a non-*******. Every server I go into it's the same thing. Kill an admin in any shape or form that they don't approve of, play the game ANY way other than is DICTATED to you and you're banned.

I thought the whole point of ranked server was to prevent this kind of thing, but it's been a joke from the beginning. [/rant]

well i know some admins who hack themselfs (wont say your name *stars* oops i did). but the funny thing is, they keep banning me for a round for aimbotting at the end of the round, still amazed how clueles some of them are. this disappoints me but also amuses me. there are really dissappointments(shooting entire clips in someone, then suddenly you turn around and discover you shot 2 clips in the wall, only to get knifed by a tard who couldnt kill you with a voss clip).

As Zarious sort of said, the fact that the EU gunship has shields that somehow don't stop the ordnance from the PAC gunship from penetrating and doing fatal damage is very disappointing, ...and I BET they won't fix that with the next update.

There are other things too, but still it's piles of fun, so meh, I guess I'll keep playing it.
