The inner eVGA 55nm runs about 70C at load, and the MSI 65nm on the outside runs maybe 10C cooler at load.

Thanks man. Not as powerful as TRI SLI 295's or TRI SLI 280's, but for the most power stuffed into the smallest space, I'd agree.

Just a FYI you cant run tri sli 95 :) you can run as a PhysiX Card as Windows only has the ability to see 4 GPU's.

A beefy Quad sli with the 295's are already a beast. I would love to see a TRI 295 SLI system, but I am sure that is way down the line...

Hey M.O. Why not a bigger case?? Other than the obvious reason of size! I would think putting together a rig like that and OC'ing it, That going with a bigger case for the sake of air flow and better temps would be worth the sacrifice.
What you've done with putting together a compact power house is no doubt sick! I'm just saying, if you had the space around the desk. Why not??

Cableguy, ya got me..........one guy had 3 295's and he was actually using the third for PhysX.

Reapster, thanks..........I have to travel alot with this rig and for what I do, a laptop isn't powerful enough, so it has to fit in the overhead compartment of a commercial airliner or under the seat of a commuter plane.

what in the hell does physX even do?

i was playing mirrors edge and having physX on with shattering glass would drop my framerate down from 5 million all the way to like 15-20fps

everything else i would get like 5 million fps but then whenever glass broke it would go to nothin. so i promptly shut physx off

...because you don't have an Nvidia GPU or dedicated physX card, it's being done on the CPU which is sloooooooooooooooooow

physx calculates the physic effects in the game. this takes the load of the processor and puts load on the gpu. gpu are better in parrallel computations, so it can make games run faster. but a gpu is bad with logic(comparing stuff), so if somewhere it requires a lot of comparing it will slow down and that can explain the drop in fps.

Actually, physX and CUDA just isn't programmed for ATI cards, thus the CPU does it.

Have they fixed that? I tried playing Mirror's Edge with the rig <--- thataway and got horrible stuttering and crappy FPS with PhysX enabled. Turned it off and it was perfectly fine. I would have thought that if they're going to enable it by default with Nvidia cards, a single GTX 280 would be able to do it.

Try downloading the latest PhysX driver if you haven't already.

In the options, is it just "enabled/disabled"?

Is there a separate PhysX driver? When I installed GPU drivers, PhysX drivers were installed at the same time.
It would make sense to be screwed up for me if I was supposed to hunt down separate drivers...

Now, the game might well be fixed. I played it about a month after it came out. I had the issue as I explained before, and disabled PhysX in the game. I beat the game in a few hours and haven't played it since. So I might just have played the game too soon...

you shouldn't have to d/l separate drivers. it should be included in your nvdia driver. the nvidia control panel has the option to enable/disable physx

sctuslly only in the newer drivers 180.xx and above does PhysX come with the driver download...

Yeah, but the beta was out last year. Of course I have newer drivers than that! :rawr Though this time around, with the rapid-fire driver releases lately, I'm not current. I'm on 182.50, two betas have come out since then.
