What is this about "Community Maps"? I did not read anywhere in there that they are going to drop in 5 of the best publicly made maps.

Wherent they going to do this for bf2 as well a couple of years ago

Am not sure , but i sure would like some 2142 maps as that's what i play most now.

I, for one, always liked the haze on Karkand. I think it added to the whole immersion factor.

Either way, I'm looking foward to the new map, but I'm praying the patch doesn't break anything. I don't think BF2 can survive another 1.3 fiasco at this stage.

I second that, the game is too old for any major screw ups, people will just walk away and find some other game to play, because that's what people are doing anyway.

Karkand is so popular because the flags and buildings make the fighting close, it has nothing to do with the fog making karkand battles the way they are.

And 90% of the people am sure hate the fog, and am one of them.

Don't get me wrong, karkand is a good map but am sick of it now and the fog too, but i have done 800 hours at karkand alone.

If flags and the buildings made fighting close then surly jalalabad would also be like karkand? Excluding the 100m run at the start.

But its not. Its because on karkand you cannot shoot further than 100m. On jalalabad you can go onto a roof and see the whole map. This is impossible on karkand and thus it descourages long range fighting.
Even on top of square you can only see as far as the hotel.

But you can be wrong if you like, can't say I will benefit from changing your mind :)

I feel it's more the 100m+ gap at the start. It makes whoring points take longer if MEC holds the flags. Even if MEC holds all of the flags in Karkand, USMC can spam grenades and ammo/medpacks from their forward spawn.

They really are dragging their heels with this patch.

Am looking forwards to the 2142 side of it now, as i think 2142's maps are better, and operation blue pearl should be better in 2142 IMO.
