Personally I like 2142 better since I feel it's more refined than BF2. Instaproning means an accuracy decrease, you can still drop/detonate C4 and ammo/health packs while jumping (unlike BF2 where they just disabled the fire buttons for everything while jumping), and ammo and health packs don't instantly heal/resupply, you have to wait a bit.

BF2 is better in the way that the ranks and unlocks are not necessary for a good game, in 2142 you have to unlock all the basics that are already given to you in BF2.

I think the saddest part about this whole thing is comparing 'Battlefield' games equates to playing medic on Karkand vs. playing Assault on Gib. :hmm:

Well with the new frostbite engine coming out for PC I wanted to see what game play was the best on the old sandbox engine. If 2142 had a medic class i'd play it.Karkand and Gib are the two most played maps for I/O with the exception of the BF 2 pro mod pub

i love both. the biggest thing i like better about 2142 was how much more balanced 2142 was. vehicle vs infantry was crap in bf2. in 2142 they made vehicles a lot less powerful and gave infantry a better chance.

That's exactly my point. You weren't really comparing the games at all. There were no big open maps, no tanks, walkers, APCs, gunships, jets, etc., just medic on IO Karkand and medic (assault) on IO Gib. That's not comparing 'Battlefield' games, since that's one class on one map with a large element of the game removed. That's like if Consumer Reports were to base their analysis on vehicles solely on the fabric used on the seat cushions.

Its hard to judge, both games have entertainment factors, one will lack where the other doesn't.

If i had to choose, i would side with BF2 despite my feelings towards it.

Now do you mean which had the better infantry? Better weapons? Better maps? Better vehicles? Better squad system? Better scenery? You asked which was the better BF game and then only showed a very miniscule sample size of either game, that being medic on Karkand or medic on Gib. When someone asks which brand of dishwasher is better, do you expect them to answer 'the yellow one'? Judging the games as a whole, I'd go with BF2142 being better since overall it's far more balanced than BF2, but BF2 does have its advantages over BF2142. Based solely on the videos you posted, it's hard to say. Medics on BF2 can insta-heal so BF2142 is more balanced there, but then there are the pocket rockets in 2142 of which most people will spam an entire salvo at the slightest provocation. Although there is no insta-prone accuracy in BF2142, there is the crouchspam/squathump you've shown in your latest posted video. I've always felt infantry is the worst part about the BF series, personally, so to judge either game on simply those merits alone, I'd call it a tie between the two. Although the Voss isn't as annoying as G36E, so I guess that's something.

Why don't you compare Highway Tampa? That's what the original Battlefield was all about, 64 players, huge maps, tons of vehicles.

In a 'real' pub match, it's never 5v5.or promod.
