Playing the Poms

taken the 13 nations,wiped out france and half of india,getting around $11k a turn.Ive taken spain and they look defeated.Ive got over half of america but nothing in europe.

Im getting good with my ships too,even just 4th rate ships:yay:

This may be the best game of 2009 i think?,oh and i realized you can study about 12 things at once with making schools.There is alot of fine details in this game!.

Oh and the fire in order skill is when it takes off

I set the system to auto tax and auto build buildings and found that the AI does a really good job upgrading everything and taxing people just to the point they want to revolt, but its good enough they dont.

Anyone else tried those settings?

I mean, its not perfect but I like how I can go to a city and overwrite whats being built or taxed too.

Avoid Pirates in the early game, i started to attack them when i had 4th rate ships, otherwise its just not worth attacking them imo.

i also tend to build up economic building early with a decent amount of schools in emerging towns. With research i aimed for Fire By Rank, as it is very very useful. Aim for India first, as people are reporting an income of 700k per turn:shock:.

the only other thing i can suggest is to play offensive on the global map, but defensive in the land battles, if the enemy has lots of cavalry and you don't have the square formation, don't stretch each unit line out to much have them about 4/5 rows deep, and if they have bowman, i tend to charge them, as i hate bowman due to their long range.

Earlier on i had a battle against a pirate fleet and i had all first rates and i kicked their ***, managed to blow 4 ships up with as many broadsides

*EDIT* don't rely on cavalry, only have max of 5 to flank the enemy/attack artillery, they are not as reliable as previous total wars

What you can do is play the four intros, it teaches you the game and what youre suppose to do.

I went back to my Great Britain campaign and sure enough turns out I can go past 1800 doh, think it was a bug

Tearing around Annatolia now, I am so powerful that every major faction hates me lol

only factions I got on my side are Persia and Morocco lol

yeh if you get too powerful the major nations will hate you, as will their affiliated minor ones

in my British campaign only a few minor nations like me

in my Prussia game though I am attacking Russia, and I am on good terms with GB, Spain, Austria, United Provinces

the big boys at least, already killed off the Polish, I just have to make sure I plan for the eventuality of attacking the French and pissing my allies off lol

I was the same way, but I found out that you can buy their love. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE hated me. There were a few that were indifferent, so I started with them. When I met my objective I was raking in the dough, so I gave 1000 and trade agreements. Some counter offerred, but most took it. Only the ones that I destroyed to one or two nations are still mad at me.

I am now building my Russian armada. It wont be easy as the Ottos, Britian, France, Spain, and a few others seem to have hundreds of ships. I have 9; 3 class 4s and 6 class 3s.
