The pikemen are pretty good in hand to hand and obviously against cav, having two lines of inf in rank is pretty easy to kill them with, just keep moving one behind the other..

Pikemen get mowed tbh, no guns and they are sitting ducks for artillery lol

and atm I am using the Quixote campaign AI

I intend to go for his full mod Imperial Splendour and then Darth Mod after I have finished my current campaign

No, that big ship next to it didnt do that. It was a little tiny no rate! :rawr

It went into the side of my ship thats on fire and it fired its cannons blowing the tiny ship to bits. When it blew up, it caught my ship on fire!

I guess the crew didnt think it through

Anyone got any good tactics for defeating france as Spain?

Scenario : France has no allies, I've blockaded ports, blocaded trade routes, have most of their colonies, my allies are surrounding main france, (If i cap their victory region this do i get all their colonies or do i have to go and cap them all?) but my question is this.

How do i defeat guys with guns? I;m so used to cavalry against native americans that I never really paid attention to europe. That and india just blows against my cannons.

to defeat any European army, i use about 8 line infantry, line them up in a single line 3 ranks deep with the end bent facing the flanks, with my 5 units of artillery behind my line blowing crap up, and any cavalry with the general behind the arty who can counter charge any flanking move and charge through a gap in their lines, if i have any light infantry i set them up in front of my lines in light infantry mode, all of this coupled together should give you superior fire power, this only works if you have fire by rank. i tend not to do bayonet charges as i find it much more affective to shoot them.

the artillery i use is mainly howitzers and mortars, if you have 12lb cannons put them in the main line with infantry, so you can use grap shot to its maximum.

I love Empires Total War, very fun game although the AI crashes are a bit annoying, although it seems that they will be fixing a lot of stuff in the next patch

Started a new game with Prussia with the new version of Darth Mod and with the new patch, so hoping CA have fixed all of those problems Anyone run into much problems with the new patch?

thanks m8:),but im not sure about making the game harder as i like to build my characters ranks.

Just more units and armys on the the same game wud rock.those other two mods(APE & IS) sound alright but not finished?

Anyone run into much problems with the new patch?

Yeah, seems to be real laggy for me now and I am getting a lot more crashes. The battles still run fine, but campaign movement is rough.
