Why would I buy this game?

Please tell me, because I don't see a single reason to buy it.

It has NOTHING new. Graphics? I don't buy games just for graphics...

I see no point in wasting money.

uhr.. well it is the first time that the frostbite engine is playable on PC... but appart from that I really don't know.

You (like me) approach this new battlefield title from a PC gamers vieuw, for the people that only own a console, this new battlefield is great news.

Its like when they did those 1942 maps for BFV (WWII mod), except last time it was free.

I am saying this hoping that someone from Dice reads it, let there be moding tools for 1943! I want my DC mod.

I didn't get on the BF wagon before BF 2, so I would welcome the chance to try it in a WWII setting.
I do have BF1942, but like many old games what remains is mostly very experienced players that focus on one or two maps, so its not much fun being newbie

Heck, I'd be happy with mapping tools since there are no unlocks.

I can think of quite a few reasons. Hence, why i will buy it :)

              Some possible Pros
              Frostbite Engine on the PC
No unlocks and probably no rankings/leaderboards/etc. so people will be playing to have fun like in BF1942
              Things are finally destructible
The editor will be almost bug free easy to use and faster then the BF2 Editor.
The Editor might come with new regular updates and tutorials on how to do certain things straight from the developers
We might get a server browser
The player limit might be 64 or higher players on the PC
Hopefully it will be available on STEAM.

              Some possible Cons
They are going to add ranking or have the game heavily involved in ranking instead of COD4 style to where it doesn't really matter much
              They might add unlocks
Unlimited ammo and auto heal instead of going into a bunker or find cover, waiting a few seconds and healing manually will possible make gamers lazier
There might not be an editor available.
We might not get a server browser.
The player count might really only be 24 players for the PC

You can forget about it being any higher than 64players. Frostbite wouldn't handle anything near the numbers some people want. To be honest, 64player maps were just too big for me.

is an editor even confirmed cause that could maybe just justify the price.

Agreed, give the Frostbite engine to the masses to play with!

you buy it because it looks like fun. Once upon a time games used to be played for "fun" and "enjoyment"

I'm the BF2 generation aswell, but I've played Wake on BF2 so much, I know it by heart, I've had enough, if there were lots of new maps and a wake as an addition I'd understand.

TheHeartSmasher, you listed some good points, but you see, there is nothing groundbreaking there, nothing to really want to make you buy the game, it's the same old, same old, or something that's been done already.

Re: Why would I buy this game?

Its ALL been done already. In 1942 it was all done.

A friend at work mentioned having civilians. If you kill one, they become hostile toward your army. Road side bombs show up. Things are booby trapped like jeeps with no working breaks and tanks that blow up when you start them.

Of course that was done in BF Vietnam.

Its all about fun anymore. There are no new ideas. Publishers may be afraid of them.

Im not a pc guy, I own strictly and play strictly on a console. But I see a upside, giving modding tools for the frostbite engine to modders. I like to see what some of you can make!

                              :shock::shock::shock::shock::shakehead:

Could not disagree more for myself, Battlefield suggests hugeness and I’ve played in epic fire fights on BF PR (Mod). It’s truly epic; there is the man power to tactically play the round. The map size is fantastic giving varied terrain and obstacles and in truth the well run servers basically run 50-64 players easy. The T&T server you have to queue to get on and normally runs 64 players.

Twenty four players you say in a small compressed map…..sounds claustrophobic and painfully dull. Yes you bump into enemy players all twelve of them ( Wow that’s giving variation) every turn …Some like simplified, less tactical, always shooting something every minute then some have moved on……….I did not buy that 2142 (was it) but that was purely down to that sci-fi stuff not interesting me and it looked like of BF2. I bought BF2 four years ago, and with Mod’s still play it, I had Imagined I be sitting here welcoming a new incredible BF game that was leaps and bounds ahead of the old and trusted BF2 instead of reading what looks like a stocking filler…..a revamped 1942 come on what happened to having some balls and pushing the boundaries..

All I can say is a feel embarrassed for that guy standing answering all the questions at that show…..if he thinks that’s impressive then he’s in the wrong job, has he seen what other developers are offering these days and the basic computers we now have in our homes.
Guess what we want is to be wowed, even excited and proud of a new Bf game……….
