For People With No Sound in 1.2 With Vista

Many users are reporting that changing their soundcard settings to
    16bit 44100hz
is at least working to get them sound for now. I know it isn't ideal, but it's something.

I figured this discussion would be more at home here than in the announcement news threads.

EDIT: Another guy just claimed that his friend had some success with re-installing his Realtek drivers. It's worth a shot.

Ya I tested this about 10 minutes ago since it was the same problem I had when I first got WaW

You can set it to 16 bit 4800 Hz (DVD Quality) but any higher then that and it won't work... kind of annoying because I'd prefer to have higher quality but it's the only way WaW will work with sound

Here is a question I forgot to ask:

Is there anyone using Vista who has sound after the patch without changing settings?

JD says you won't notice the difference with lowering the settings on your sound card while playing the game. I guess since the X360 is 16-bit 48 KHz anyway, so they would never have made it any better than that for PCs.

I had to change my sound. Running vista hp 64bit, with onboard sound.

JD just banned me from the callofduty forums for pointing out that the reason it doesn't sound different with lower settings is because the X-Box 360 supports 48 KHz 16-bit audio. Of course that implies that means they left the same sound as the consoles, which is true.

The few times Unnamed has been banned from the callofduty forums was usually because he got a bit "excited".

Not to say the callofduty forums are not a bit sensitive to how people type.

The two times I've been banned on this name have been for calmly telling JD or someone else something.
Last time it was because I explained to him that "whenever 1.2 comes out" is not a real answer to the question "when?"
This time it's because I had the audacity to point out that changing your PC sound card to console settings makes sense because this is an X-Box 360 port and those are the capabilities of that console.
This was after he acted like it was a GOOD thing that turning your sound to 16-bit because it's not like it makes it sound different anyway.
No spamming, no cursing. When half of the forums over there are making death threats or screaming, I point out one simple fact and he started crying and abused is authority again. The difference is: any time I point out a fact that makes his company or JD look remotely imperfect, he flips out and bans me. When other people rant and rave he just mocks them.

I don't mean to flame, but that's not accurate. You were overly aggressive and argumentative in the one situation earlier when I saw you get banned. You may think you're being calm in your own mind, but it's not coming across that way in text. Not to defend that forum for everything that goes on there, but they deal with such a huge number of jerks over there, that your posts will sometimes get lumped in with the other trouble-makers, and you get punished for it.

Crunch is correct in what he said.

Mine was completely fine after the patch, just like it was before. I did not need to make any changes.

I probably wouldn't have needed to make changes after the patch but a week or two ago I changed my sound settings to highest quality... I think by default it's set to like 16 bit so most people shouldn't have a problem unless they changed the sound settings... I know when WaW first came out / patch 1.1 - I had the same problem with sound so had to turn down to 16 bit... It would be nice if CoD WaW could change sound to 16 bit for only CoD WaW

Yeah, thats a downside to them integrating the game into Windows sound. It affects all the sounds, not just WAW.
