Only the default (TGN Light) theme for now. Dark them is also coming back soon. Then CSN. Then Wrestlin' Nation. A lot of WIP stuff right now. There are a couple of things still not working either. Sorry.
It has close to none effect on performance (unless you talk about the map). :p If you think it looks better or not, a taste thing. I personally really like being able to see more detailed animations and just... well see more of my hands and arms instead of seeing one big weapon in the bottom right corner of my hud.
I really like how it looks, it seems more natural (like how I would hold the weapons myself). If you hold a gun, even at your hip, it's never as far out of your sight as the weapons are under default fov. It seems like you're holding the guns against your chest.
With fov 70, it reminds me of Mirrors Edge in how you can see your hands and such just like how you'd see them IRL.
Start up TF2, Options > Keyboard > Advanced, tick the little box that says "enable developer console". Then look through the controls list, it's usually at the bottom, and change the console key to whatever you like (I have mine set to F6).
If you feel like trying out viewmodel_fov 70 or other commands, start a local server, enter sv_cheats 1 into the console and then you can use whatever command you like. If a certain command is not allowed on regular servers it will be set to the default once you enter a cheat secured server.
To change your fov, use the command fov_desired and set it between 75 and 90. Anything other than that will be reset when you enter a regular server. You can only change the viewmodel_fov (that has absolutely nothing to do with your actual field of view in the game) if you're on a server with cheats turned on. This is what we're trying to change. Some people like the look of viewmodel_fov 64 better, worth a try if you're curious.
Steam group has close to 100 members now, thanks for everyone that have joined. You'll get cookies when you get to heaven.
It covers up the screen :rawr I'd rather see more of what I'm meant to be looking at.
Not necessarily. Some models are indeed sorta stretched towards the center of the screen, but most weapons take up approximately the same space that you have with the default settings, the model is just made smaller so you can see the arms and stuff going on around there :p
Besides this is only an option. We don't want to force something like this onto people, we just want the cvar unlocked so those that want can play with this.
The cvar cl_bobcycle could until today be used to remove your weapon from the screen, it has now been patched and can't be used on sv_cheats 0 servers. However, Valve are going to add a new cvar to the game with a future update that allows you to remove your weapon from your view. That means that whatever little to no advantage you have with viewmodel_fov 70, it will still be obsolete, because you can just hide your weapon instead.
Steam group now has 167 (!) members, big thanks to everyone that joined the steam group - you others will burn for eternity in hell.
No but some people just have had it that way since quake or just aims better with it - I can certainly see what they mean. With no weapon in the way it might be easier to aim, just because there isn't anything in the way to disturb your view. Somehow I agree... (ohno)
