Before raven shield came out, they had promised the exact same thing with the destructible environments, but it didn't happen. I personally would LOVE if that could happen, even with tanks (then again I find the tanks in this game wayyyy too easy to deal with). However I think on a old engine like they are still using for COD 4 and 5, it might be harder to implement.
Much like someones other thread, about multi story buildings, and as we can see from some of the comments here, it might be too dynamic for people to be comfortable playing in that complex a environment. as "hardcore" as this game is, truly game evolving developments need to be taken in small steps for the general audience and even some life long gamers.
However since these last 2 CODs have been so popular, I have hope, since for a long time games with lean, that had you dying in 2 or 3 shots were more a niche market, things have progressed.

So I don't play online much because of the lag when I'm automatically connected to a server on the other side of the world >.>
