the next patch will have full and incremental versions i read but who knows an issue like this might come up again.
Hopefully people are still watching this thread as I'm running into an identical problem and (gasp!) EA's support has been of dubious help. I'm hesitant to do the complete install again because I spent an hour this morning getting my Northern Strike installation (digital download) unlocked because EA's servers showed the key in use from my previous installation. My plan tonight (barring other suggestions) is to try resetting the version in the registry, applying 1.40 and then applying the 1.50 incremental patch.
any suggestions to avoid pulling my hair out?

thanks!
That should work, but you can also use the 1.50 full patch after changing the version in the registry.
You will probably find you wont be able to look at medals etc in BFHQ, to fix that you would need to re-install like in post 1.
