FIX for BF2142/Northern Strike "unmodified content error"

Sure fire way to get the game working if you own Northern Strike:

Install BF2142.
Install 1.4
Install Northern Strike.
Install 1.4
Install 1.5 INCREMENTAL.

From what I've gleaned everywhere, this is the most likely method to work for everyone. It worked for me, a vista 32bit user, too.

It also works, for XP Pro 64bit and Vista 64bit Premium.

oh btw there is a better one:
install bf2142
patch 1.20
northern strike
patch 1.20
patch 1.40
patch 1.50
reboot after every single step. if this doesnt work there is something blocking it, or yu have a wrong patch

That doesn't make any sense.

The problem lies with the 1.5 FULL support for Northern Strike. There are a few glitches in it. Using the 1.4-1.5 incremental avoids that problem.

That's the reason this works. Installing/downloading 1.2 as well is just a waste of time, bandwidth, and HDD space.

It definitely isn't better.

recently got 2142 but havnt got northern strike and i just cant get it to work properly i keep getting "unmodified content error", i have tried using what you have suggested(without NS) and other solutions but it just wont work.

i once had problems with ns after doing the normal ns thing, and it went after i did what i said earlier.

If you don't have NS, you need to install the game and then the 1.40 patch and then 1.50.
Either the 1.5 full or incremental will work so long as you install 1.40 first.
Any issues, then re-download the patches as the ones you have may be corrupt.

Also make sure that you don't have a firewall blocking the program, or something else that is preventing BF2142 from running properly.

i spent all of yesterday (my day off from college) installing downloading patches uninstalling fully, it worked once, i had bad ping so i quit the game and exited everything including avast and reloaded it, tried to get on a server and it didn't due to "unmodified content error", how on earth does restarting the game change that?

im going to try one last time today and one time 2morro after defragging and scanning, if it doesn't work im going to cry :cry:

after doing a 1.40 full patch, it says it completed successfully. so i went into the 2142 folder in program files and looked at the bf2142patch log and at the bottom it shows:

This problem never existed before 1.5 was released and will surely be corrected with the next update (there is one coming, the last time I checked).

I'm guessing this hasn't been stickied because there aren't any admins left who give a crap...
