Run through Steam?

Im thinking of buying this game but can I run it through Steam with the community features etc overlay?

No, it's not a part of the Steam system, so the overlay will not work in game i'm afraid.

That sucks. Usally you can add a game to Steam and the overlay works... kinda like xfire.

Oh, i was unaware that the overlay worked if you manually added the game to Steam. In that case, it might do, i'll get a mate to test now and report back since i don't have it installed.

Yeah you just simply click "Add Non-Steam Game" and you get the overlay and on your friends list it will say you're playing BF2. You must launch the game through steam. So even if you have steam running and just click BF2's desktop icon, it won't work.

Yep, it works. Although, i had to manually navigate to bf2.exe as it didnt appear when the list of installed applications populated. Hope this helps.

It does work, but Punkbuster will kick you for disallowed program/driver.

Tested it out as well same results, Punkbuster kick for Disallowed program/driver. If you want it to see your friends, I suggest www.xfire.com You can Chat, have voice chats, and join their servers.

I've added bf2 to steam, but I never was able to access steam in game... maybe I'm doing something wrong.
