I'm playing a 1v1 tourney match soon (just for the lulz, mostly). Anyone have any tips? Weapons? Perks? etc?
1v1 tips?

Re: 1v1 tips?
Do you know what's allowed yet? Including, but not limited to...
- Hardcore or Regular
- what maps
- any disallowed weapons or perks
- etc
Some of those would likely influence the suggestions/choices. -
Re: 1v1 tips?
I've played 1v1 in Crysis Wars so I'll try to give some advice... I'll try to keep in mind how CoD4 works.
In a 1v1 sound is extremely important. Always always listen to the background sounds, because the slighest quirk could be the enemy behind the corner.
You don't want to be a sitting duck. Move around (avoid sprinting), but try to do it as quietly as possible. Always look in all directions all the time, but if you have a good idea of where the enemy is you can walk scoped around the corner. Otherwise stay in hip fire, spraying is very effective
Try to think like your enemy. If you notice that he is playing very aggresively, use it to your advantage and back off a bit. If he's camping, surprise him
If you've blown your cover, don't worry about spraying through walls and etc but always be prepared in case he's coming out again.
Weapons... for smaller maps a SMG (ak74) and a little bigger an AR (ak47). For shipment a shotgun can be pretty effective as well. Perks then... depends on what's allowed. If all perks are legal I'd say 3x nades, stopping power and dead silence - you don't need that much ammo when facing one person and you want to be completely silent, it will help. Nades are good for area denial and killing without getting your hands dirty. :pComment

Re: 1v1 tips?
yeah sometimes i actually feel that its better if people are able to hear you because if your careful you can draw them to you and give yourself an advantage rather than simply going out to find themComment

Re: 1v1 tips?
If it's Hardcore, then the mini-map only comes up if 1 player gets a 3-killstreak...this makes the UAV Jammer much less useful, and the reduced range of putting a silencer on a weapon is also a minus. I'm not sure those two selections give more positives than negatives. I think it could be argued that Juggernaut, Sleight of Hand, Double Tap, Overkill, and maybe even Sonic Boom would be more effective in the Perk 2 slot in Hardcore than UAV Jammer.Originally posted by RangerXMLIf its hardcore rules,
Scorpion w/Silencer
Deagle (for Claymores thru walls)
Bomb squad or Claymores
UAV Jammer
Dead SilentComment

Re: 1v1 tips?
I'm somewhat sure it'll be on promod or PAM (Maybe DAMN) so all your suggestions involving perks and guns are somewhat irrelevant.
Anyway, 1v1 is all mindgames. Never let your opponent know where you are and always try to keep track of where he is. Keeping a good point in the map is essential, somewhere with a good view and is somewhat central to the map. Ie: Top of A house in Crash or one of the roofs near the road on Ambush.Comment

does eavesdrop even do anything? i saw this guy with the evesdrop perk one time and i laughed because i figured he was probably using it as a jokeComment

Re: 1v1 tips?
The way he worded his post made it appear as though it was an informal 1v1, not anything serious at all. That, along with his "what perks" question, leads me to believe it will just be stock.I'm somewhat sure it'll be on promod or PAM (Maybe DAMN) so all your suggestions involving perks and guns are somewhat irrelevant.

And seriously, play shipment though - it's the best (and only map really) for 1v1. Any bigger map just leads to camping and it gets boring.Comment

Re: 1v1 tips?
UAV Jammer or Slight of Hand, but I stick with Dead Silent and the Silencer, more then once did I miss my target, but still get to walk up to him and shank him. If your doing 1v1 and someone does get the UAV up and you don't have Jammer on, it sucks, big time. Scorpion is great for coming around corners and is accurate enough to pick your target off at range. Claymores or Bomb Squad is a given in just about every darn game of 1v1 I've ever played. That also justifies the Deagle since unless your using the AK74u your not gonna be able to shoot through walls with a sub. Subs also seem to be the weapon of choice unless their are strict tac rules in which case the silenced G3/M4 are king, but even then you'll still notice lots of Scorpions and other subs.
Personally I really like the 1v1 sniper thing on big maps, but that's just me.Comment

Re: 1v1 tips?
Well i'm assuming it will have rules similar to this.
which doesn't allow much flexabilty for perks like dead silence.Comment

Re: 1v1 tips?
idk dead silence is kind of a mixed bag, i mean yeah its really useful in some situations but then you also only need to move around so much on a map to kill people. it does really depend on the map i guess, one of those smaller maps like shipment or vacant it might be useful but then you could also just use deep impact or steady aim instead and crouch walk around or just not move as much and be more cautious if you know that the enemy can hear you. it IS definitely one of the better #3 perks though.Comment

Re: 1v1 tips?
Stealth kits.
AK with RD
C4/Claymore
Stopping Power
Dead Silence
You don't need UAV jammer, if he kills you 3 times in a row, might aswell give up.Comment
