APCs not amphibious, why?

i just realized this, the previous BF games to my knowledge allowed APCs to drive through water, but not 2142. is it for the sake of balance?

I believe the only amphibious APCs so far in BF were in BF2 (DC might have had them, but I'm only talking vanilla BF here). I agree it's kind of stupid that the APCs in BF2142 aren't amphibious whereas the ones 140 years before them were, but then I just remember they have the F2 mortar and no longer feel that way.

BTW, did I mention I hate that ****ing mortar?

APCs were also amphibious in BF:V. not sure about 1942.

ya i miss trucking through the water in the apc's. in fact, i remember when the game first came out, i went hauling nuts on the titan version of verdun. not knowing where i was going i ended up in the drink. when it quickly lost all it's health & blew up, i was wondering wth is going on? this is an apc, it should be able to go in the freaking water!

Yeah it's a shame they weren't. I want to get some amphibious apc's in Extreme Realism though.

They are being coded Ekalb I think dice left it out because there hardly is any water in apc maps *except sidi ofcourse*

Well, Sidi is the one map that counts. I remember Day One of the demo... the very first thing I did is hop in the APC and drive it straight into the river and died. I thought for sure that I'd be able to cross that little water in my "armored boat" and take that CP.

So, my first adventure in BF2142 was a phail. lol

i guess it's not a BIG deal, but it's defnitely strange. why would apc's be amphibious through the course of history & then all of a sudden not be able to handle a little water in the future, when technology should be far superior. it's bassackwards is all.

Ah yes, the APCs in the boat bay. Good times. That was before everyone was so good at TV missiles and you actually stood a chance in a ground (or water, heh) vehicle.
