Internet ?

Hi, after a 2 months break of 2142 iam thinking of coming back in the action. But, I need to get back Internet on my PC. I used to be with Bell Hight speed and Iit was pretty good (ping always around 20-40) in americans server. So ill prolly go back with them. Now they are offering me a Hight speed internet with about 2mb/sec. The problem I have is that i dont know the specs of my old I.C I used to have. My knowledge with internet speed an such is pretty poor. Will I be able to run Online FPS without any lag, Is there any one of you that actually play with this kind of connection? Or should I get the Lvl up connection 7/mb.

Go for the faster one. You probably wouldn't be happy with 2mb/s. It is possible to play at that speed, but I'm guessing you would be lagging and unable to play at a competitive level.

2mb/s should be fast enough, that's same speed as mine. I used to play on 512kb/s with no problems.
But if 7mb/s is not much more expensive go for it, comes in handy when you have a patch to download.

I was going to disagree, but I think you just hit on why I suck so bad at this game... I've got DSL's lowest connection, I believe it's less than 1mb/s :thumbsup:

Or at least that's what i'm going to blame it on from now on! :laugh:

WTF - A 2mb line is about a hundred times faster than needed

All you need is a connection with good latency and any broadband connection should give you that. As long as you don't live out in the middle of the desert or have a million other users on your ring.

My connection ain't all that and i don't lag in American servers. My max download speed is 60 kbps and max upload speed is about 10 kbps

connection speed does not really affect your ping to servers. That is determined by distance and the number of hops that you have between you and the server. 2mb's is plenty fast enough to game on.

is that kiloBYTES or kiloBITS? i have to assume kiloBITS. as far as online gaming is concerned, 2mb download is more than enough, but you want an upload of at least 384kbps. the only time the faster connection speed will help is when you're dowloading large files, such as the patches or music & video. if you use for a variety of things, go w/the faster speed if there's not much difference in cost. it won't help the actual gameplay, but it will help w/ your downloads:thumbsup:

Yeah, I have 384 up and I can play and d/l a little porn simultaneously.

So in conclusion 2/mb should be more than enough to play Bf2142 ( other games ) without encountering any LAG! cool... cuz i cant stand lag... thanks guys, ill be getting the connection this week end. If theres something i should know, make me a sign.

i had 768k connection that did fine. but my pings would jump up when someone else in the house was using a lot of bandwidth.

Yeah just got it today, Its kind hard to accept 56+ ping. Always got near 20-30 before. What your ping shaz?
