Yes, seriously! I find it to be really stupid because that is another finger I need to be doing something with. When I am sniping, I want to click the right mouse button and that is it! But no.

My Opinion on a Few Things..

And with a bolt action sniper, if you are zoomed in and shoot, you need to let go of your zoom before it reloads. Retarded!

Also, Multiplayer Ranked servers fail! They need to be "Waiting" in order to join (Can't join In Progress games), and once the round is finished, the server kicks everybody! Ghey.

The hit detection, or damage. . . REALLY SUCKS! I unload a whole damn clip into someone and their still chugging, or I shoot a guy once in the head and they fall.. What?!:shakehead:

The Single Player is the same way, when you get bombarded with people, being a noob at Far Cry and comprehending what your doing really sucks to be you. I get people running out from everywhere shooting at me. They see me, I don't see them? and it takes A LOT to take them out as well! I rather it be realistic and have like 4 shots on me kill me than have it 10 shots on me kills me while 20 shots on them kills them. Who the hell came up with such an idea?

I'm gonna go back into Singleplayer today and try again, but I played it for about an hour yesterday and just didn't understand why I was playing it. Everywhere looks the same to me, tracking diamonds just makes you go out of your way, and then getting bombarded out of nowhere by enemy militia leaves me like "WTF?!"

    ...Lets try this again

Got mine from GameStop and has 6 bonus mission.

I like the open world and "do-business-your-way" approach, but there are some drawbacks to me:

    1. the default control is lame. Why "5" for map? Why not something like Tab like any other games?

    2. whose idea is it to have the protagonist infected by malaria?

    3. why do I have to keep pushing right mouse button to aim down? Why can't it be just like any other games that I switch aiming by one click?

not really, if they do a patch all they really need to do is very minor tweaking

and yer silenced weapons are good, they sound awesome but like you say I much prefer taking everyone out with my Barret or AA12

Heh, yeh the silenced weapons do work pretty well i have to admit, although in nearly all my missions I just resort to finding a nice hill and nade launcher the crap out the place first.

I found the AI to be pretty good, but there are some situations such as when they are chasing me in a Jeep when they could be smarter; when i go into Urban environments I always get the crap shout out of me

haven't had any glitches yet, and driving vehicles is fine imo, going offroad can get quite bumpy but thats the poing

and yer they are sort of like Stalker enemies where they can hit you from far off, well some of them, depends on what weapon they carry, I never get hit too much

The main point behind sleep other than to save was to accelerate the day/night cycle, so say you had an assassination mission you may want to do it at night to keep yourself hidden. Stealth seems to work quite well imo, but only if you are using silenced guns (and yeh I wish there was more weapon customisation ) although I did buy the camo suit

imo the game is very good but I agree that they could have made it far more better with only a bit more added, slower outpost respawns for one

as for TrooperJacs question about scenery, I will say that while it isn't Crysis it looks good, you can get some crappy textures on some things but most of the time it is very nice, I have gone from Jungle, Savannah, Desert, Swamps, large Urban areas and some awesome clifftop areas with waterfalls etc

its a nice looking place for sure

Im surprised people like so much to be honest.

For a start the ai is pretty poor
    - Shoots you through vegetation (i.e you cant see them but they can see you)
    - Get stuck on objects/glitch
    - When using vehicles constantly crash into objects
    - Have amazing accuracy for militia.

Just a small list of what i have noticed.
The core concepts of the game are good, i.e day/night cycles, driving around etc etc. What annoys me about this game is how they have laid down such a good concept but left so much out, for example, no modular weapon upgrades, sleep seems pointless, no stealth mechanics, no vehicle upgrades, buddies are not fully needed, any side missions are always the same (convoy driving around in a circle that you have to kill) hardly any object interaction...and so on...
However, the game does have its merits, as stated before the graphics are good, the day/night cycle works well, wildlife, weapon jams, creative animations... loads of stuff.
Imo worth a buy, but they could have done so much more.

How is the scenery? Is there a good mix of environments. I do get the sense that the world is worth exploring in it's own right. Think I will give this a try after all.

Re: My Pre-release, Far Cry 2 mini review

I honestly haven't found it a problem, I am a great hater of COD4 and its boredom inducing gameplay, I much prefer something like Crysis

and I am liking Far Cry 2 very much, I am given missions that I choose, I know what is going on and ups up to me how I do them, take a bus, drive cross country, set up some elaborate ambush

some random stuff can happen out in the middle of nowhere and it really feels like a living, breathing world

In the second area still, completed all missions for the arms trader and have everything unlocked, just haven't bought everything yet hehehe atm am using the desert eagle (fire if you wish to lose your hearing) and the M4 (scope is a joy)

also bought the Barret for those lovely assassination missions...and when I want to deafen myself twice over

some awesome missions though so far

When I click your video link, nothing happens. Is it the video of the wildebeest maiming itself on the Jeep? Some great AI there lol

Some people have stated that the game is too open ended and ultimately dull. When Crysis Warhead was released people moaned that the game was too scripted and not as open and explorable as Crysis.

In my view you need a good narrative structure to any game to make it really interesting. The hard part is having a game that has a story yet gives you an amount of freedom in how you approach the various goals in that story. COD4 got it totally wrong with it's ultra linear, on rails gameplay. Far Cry 2 may have got it wrong the other way by having no real focus or direction.

it has a dx9 and dx10 render, I haven't bothered with Dx10 yet tho as the game works perfectly fine at 1680 with all settings on Very High and looks great

can we leave the DRM discussion behind and get back to Far Cry 2? I know DRM pisses a few people off but it has never given me any problems (except the sighworthy Bioshock activation)

anyways, after getting over 200 rough diamonds I felt I was being cheap so decided to spend a bit, bought some weapon crates for my safehouses etc which are very useful for storing a weapon

bought the silenced MP5 as well, god dam its a beast

some surreal stuff happened, mega wtf moments and I am now in the second area, I need more missions from the arms dealer though I wants my Barret and M4

DX11 cards are probably at least a year off now, with NV and ATI just releasing "next gen" cards in the last couple of months
