    anyone that thinks they can play to their best with low fps (sub 50 constant imo) is kidding themselves. fps helps immeasurably with hit detection, lead and any scenario with more than 2 players on screen

      oddly enough i found long range shootouts it really didnt help much even with moving targets but it did help at close range against voss noobs and the like and killing them regardless of thier idiotic hip spraying

        High fps helps a lot in CQC, people with bad fps usually snipe or play something a little less intense like engineer.

          Low FPS is bad for your K/D ratio lol

          However a really high ping is good. You'll be blipping all over so much, no one will be able to tell where you really are. :P

            I can play pretty good with 50fps and below, not my best though can still play. But there is a massive difference in hit detection and overall speed. The game is always faster on low end settings than it is on high, for everyone.

              Be good for a contrast if we knew what his computer specs were, thing like does he have enough ram, what Graphic ect.

                Re: Do I have a low framerate????

                Eh...kinda forgot i posted this. My specs are:

                Core Duo E6600 @ 2.4 Ghz
                2 GB RAM
                256 MB GeForce 7600

                My settings:

                1680 x 1050 (22'' monitor)
                Terrain = medium
                Effects = medium
                Geometry = high
                Texture = medium
                Lighting = medium
                Dynamic Lighting = low
                Dynamic Shadows = low
                Anti-Aliasing = off
                Texture Filtering = low
                Distance Scale = 100%
                (I read a guid that listed the effects of tweaking different settings, I didn't want to decrease my visibilty, so thats what I came up with.)

                I have an average ping of 25 - 30. I hear the readout in-game is subjective though, and someone else needs to tell you what it is. It should be high though since I got a cable modem.

                Yeah, I don't have a problem except when people get within 10 yards or so, and then I think the muzzle flash and other effects slow it up.

                And anybody who thinks a framerate of 20 doesn't make a difference has never had a good computer. Maybe if you try playing Unreal Tournament or something you'll see what I mean in CQC. I'm just wondering whether most people have even worse, so I don't have to shake my head at the guys I see in 30 second close range shootouts.

                  Well that graphics card is certainly holding you back. I could barely play at medium with my old 7500.

                    i'll take constant 49 fps for any game any time. anything over 30-something is good enough for the human eyes anyways, hence they lock it at those fps on consoles.

                      No it's not, there has been no scientific proof for the threshold limit of the human eye. These are vague presumptions made owing to the fact that film's record at 24 fps.

                      Eitherways, 1680 x 1050 is pushing the limit on a card like that.

                        I play fine at a constant ~35 FPS. Anything above I can't really notice. And I do have a 8800GT in another computer, so don't think I've never played at max framerate.

                        Yes, video games render each frame crisply, while movies/TV frames will be blurred in motion.

                          ive watched alot of frag videos for this game that people have made. many people have good computers but the problem is that they simply dont understand the mechanics of the game well enough. people are all like 'derr wut i emptied my WHOLE CLIP into him and then he jus spins aroun and 2 shots me" lol

                            Right, I used to be a 2 shotter in other games, but its not so easy in this, cause of the framerate. I never actually thought it might be my resolution though. Guess 1680 x 1050 is a little oversized though...

                              yeah, try reducing your resolution as the settings dont seem too bad.

                                Re: Do I have a low framerate????

                                I have quite a high spec PC - and I dropped all the graphics settings bar view-distance and anti-aliasing the other day to increase my frame-rate, kept the same high resolution of 1680*1050, and also then unlocked the FPS via console.

                                The difference it makes is utterly criminal. I haven't had a round with less than 4SPM and 4K/D since. Hitreg is solid 100% of the time even on a full and laggy timeless gibraltar. I can walk through an orbital strike without lag and taking on multiples is easy. If I wasn't such a staunch "if you can play high graphics then do, it looks better" person previously I would've done this a long time ago.

                                Sacrifice the pretties for the hitreg? Yeah it's worth it all the way. So long as you play with AA maxxed out even on low settings the game is bearable.
