    COD5 Squad "Clan Play"

What Im talking about is, "Team work" in Multiplayer not just a bunch of Random people running around with there heads cut off, but really working together.
Any idea's if there is going to be squads? And when find your self on a side with other people, and the game is over, is the game going to switch everyone around again and get people mixed up.
And it just takes the fun out of Team work when people keeping getting switched and mixed up after every map. Its hard to work with people on Xfire or Team speak when that happens. I'm not talking about Auto balance, if you played COD4 then you know what Im talking about.
This could be a Great Game if they fix this issue.

Yes, COD:WW will have some squad elements in multiplayer. From what I've read, there will be squad leaders and squads to join. The squad leader will be able to mark an area on the map where he wants the squad to move to as well (either the squad leader or the spot he marks will be displayed by a different coloured arrow).

Be sure to watch some of the videos of Xbox360 people playing the Beta, posted in the Media section of this forum. Details of the PC Beta should be coming this week, so stay tuned.

In the videos, blue = squad member, green = teammate, red = enemy :p.
I haven't seen anybody place a marker on the map yet.

I got a key for the 360 beta and handed it over to my brother who has a 360. I noticed a squad option when I was changing my class once, but I didn't really bother to look into it.

I still don't see the need for squads considering the size of most maps aren't much compared to BF2's map sizes. Not that there's anything wrong with that, I like the maps the way they are, so long as you have the right amount of players on it.

If I understood what I read correctly, I think it may only show up on the map of the squad leader and those in that particular squad.

Good point. But when the bigger custom maps come out, then it could be a really nice feature. (not to mention that hopefully the mapping community will come out with some really sweet-looking WWII maps - both urban and island/jungle).

Also, we should remember what was written earlier in some articles about each map having 3 sizes (sm, med, lrg)...if that's actually true for PC, then the squad feature and marker could be a lot more useful too.

No. What I'm saying is that these features are probably in PC as well, and we'll be able to use them in custom maps.

Sorry I wasn' t more clear on that...this forum is mostly PC players, so we often just take it for granted that we're talking about that platform.

OK, found a post by someone on the COD:WW forum who seems to know WTF they're talking about...

There are a few ways to start a squad.

1-Invite people to your party and play. You should all be blue if the party started with you and you sent out all invites.

2- Wile in a game press the start button and press Create/join squad. Once created you can press invite to squad and you pick whitch people to put in your squad. If they accept you will all be blue on the radar.

3-someone invites you to the squad you press start and join.

When being squad leader you press the directional button Up and the radar screen opens up in full and you can basically set a waypoint on the map and it tells your party to head there.

                      That's me

I'm currently making an urban map [massive ;o] on CoD4 tools and will port it to CoD5 tools when released:]

Than u = my hero. :yay:

That small-medium-large map idea sounds like what they did for BF. It wouldn't be bad for the CoD series b/c people put way too many gamers on a small map. I like; however, getting to know one map and how it is. I wouldn't mind the extra options though. As long as their was maybe a filter for it? Possible? Or filter for the 'number of people allowed for a server' or something.

^I dunno if this is what you mean but:

I would like the map size to change with the number of the players at the beginning of the map / round [depending on gametype? :)] That would be pretty useful to ease the strain on server admins :]

There is... scr_mapsize dvar, which can change the map like BF2 (small, medium, large) so even though we have 13 stock maps, each map should have 3 variations... therefore clan style play can be done on the small maps, medium can be used for a small public server, and large for those who want an all out war with tanks...

The dvar is in CoD4, it's just not setup, I'm sure with a few scripts added to a map it wouldn't be too hard to have scr_mapsize 'work' with a custom map in CoD4...
