    Merciless [Official Release]

Almost half a year after releasing my last major video [Sniper Ultimatum], I've finally created what I believe to be my best work to date. Featuring clips from purely league scrims and matches, the video runs at approximately 6 minutes. Also, for the sake of timing in the video, many of the clips (ex: 1v2's, 1v3's, etc.) are either sped up or are cut to better sync the video. So, without further adieu, here's Merciless Scope.

    Links:
Even if you want to watch it high quality, please at least view and rate it on youtube.
Also, I highly recommend you download it as well, it's a much nicer watch on a large, high quality screen.

    Youtube:
*Be sure to stream in high quality!

    Vimeo (High Quality Stream):

    Filefront (High Quality Download):

    Screen Captures:

I've put a lot of time and effort into this video. While there aren't many flashy effects, it's taken me a good deal of time to properly time the clips and shots. Finally, I'm sorry for the lack of gameplay sounds in the video - my onboard sound isn't compatible with FRAPS, but I've decided that the video is good with or without the sound.

    Thanks!

Thanks. Hoping to get it up on youtube, but the copyright owner is trolling the videos tonight I guess. Uploading now for the third time...

        Brilliant. You're a kickass sniper

Love the editing and the lack of "flashy effects". I haven't played CoD4 in a while, but daymm walls are thin in this game!

Haha, well, I'll have to play some TF2 so you can own me in that :P

Thanks for the comments, and yeah, the walls are thin (but only for me )

                  Some great shots.

                  A couple lucky shots.

And some nice examples of how they really need to work on proper hit detection in these games one day. :hum:

ps. like the music choices too. Some of the fast-forward visual effects were starting to make me dizzy though. lol.

Haha, glad I didn't add motion blur to 'em then

No way was that no scope lucky, all skill (lol). Thanks for the comments, and thanks for your guys' help with trying to find the gunshot sounds, I just ended up posting it without them, but I appreciate the help.
And I meant to include Crunch in the credits but he managed to escape :P

That's demo lag, aka the reason why CS 1.6 players thinks CSS is buggy **** with crap hit detection, when that's not really the case.

Basically, if you record yourself playing for about 5 minutes, the demo file is around 5 mb. It's impossible to cram in all your movements and the exact location of all enemies in that filesize.

Imagine it like you've made a nice little picture in photoshop and to save filesize you save it in 90% quality JPG. Most of the time you don't see any major difference between it and the full quality one, but sometimes it looks really odd with blocky textures.

If he didn't actually hit his opponents dead-on ingame, he could never be this good, think about it.

                      Great vid yet again Zuke

I've seen quite a few vids over the yrs of games like this, BF2, etc, and you can't chalk up all these shots to "lag". What I'm mostly referring to are things like drag-shooting (or whatever it's called). Now don't get me wrong, that takes skill to do, but IMO games should not allow it to occur. The bullet should go only to the precise pixel at the time of the shot, not allow a "line" of death when someone swipes a crosshair quickly across a path.

Again, not to take away from the snipers that can do it effectively, it is a learned skill that isn't easy to do, but I don't agree with allowing it.

                          Say what?

                          A line of death?

All drag shots are is moving your crosshairs really fast in the direction of your target and then timing it right so that when you click to shoot, the crosshair is on the body.

It's really not that hard... especially in games like cs and cod4.

On the topic of CSS hit detection, it really depends on the server for some reason. I may not be able to find absolute proof, but damn I'm a lot less random on some servers than others.

Its the only way you'll get recognized by a professional community. YouTube is just a bunch of kids from the Xbox version who think you're amazing (You are sex, don't get me wrong) because they can't aim for balls with a controller.

                            Re: Merciless [Official Release]

Maybe I'm using the wrong terminology/wording, and if that's so I apologize...but dragshooting (or whatever I'm thinking of) is actually a glitch that a lot of FPS games have. By doing this quick swipe of the crosshair when you pull the trigger, the game will incorrectly calculate (partly due to lag and other variances caused by the extra motion between shooter and target) where the bullet goes.

Instead of a precise killing spot like this: .
you end up getting a kill zone something more like this: _____

Depending on the game, players can pull the trigger before the crosshair meets the target, then do the swipe, and it will register as a hit. In BF2, it would register the hit even if the trigger was pulled quickly after the crosshair passed the target (the game began the calculation when the crosshair began its motion, instead of when the trigger was pulled). When done properly, it allows the player to more easily hit his target. Players that do this are still very good, but this glitch is also assisting them as well.

Anyway, I don't want to de-rail Zuke's thread or take away from his vid in any way. It's just something that has bothered me over the yrs when I see it, and I wish game makers would address it.

Haha, he wouldn't care about the de-railage, I like this topic.

This would only really have any effect if you were to make an insane, fast, crazy, reflex shot, take this for example, and check it out in slo-mo.

It looks like he shoots before his crosshair comes across the target? Is that what you're talking about?
