    Avoiding choppers

Coming from 2142, avoiding aircraft is pretty much the hardest thing for me to do when I'm in armor. A few days ago I was playing on an Oman server, and I jumped in an APC, less than a minute later, I was TV missiled (a one hit kill, or it seemed like it). I respawned and took another APC, and I was TVed by the same guy, which is when I decided to stop wasting my team's APCs.

Was that just an unlucky round for me or do APCs get owned by attack choppers all the time?

In 2142 it was a lot easier, due to the active defense and the weaker TV missile.

I really don't know how to break this to you, but here goes...

if you're in a tank, APC or mobile AA and a competent heli is in the air, you're f*cked. Period. It really doesn't matter what you do: if you're spotted (either visually or from the map), your *ss is grass.

Yeah, I was kinda expecting that.

Now where are all the maps with no attack choppers/jets but with tanks? I miss Karkand w/vehicles, I only got to play it once. And I heard Songhua Stalemate is dead

Project Reality? That's really my only suggestion.

          Yes that's right.

The TV guided missiles are a one hit kills on anything in the game.

Even the tanks are one hit kills and that and the fact tanks are slow, then your dead, and don't even think about poping smoke, because by the time you see him/ you ''LOCK ON TONE'' goes off its way to late.

It don't get any better in fast moving squrd cars or jeeps as anyone who knows what they are doing will hit a fast moving vehicle first time.

To be fair, there is not any real ways to avoid TV missiles, just make sure the chopper does not get to see you in the first place by staying out of vehicles if your enemy owns the sky, and if you see a chopper in the sky.......hide, and hide good.

DOWNLOAD highway tampa, its a good big map with lots and lots and lots of tanks and no attack choppers, but you will have to deal with only 1 fighter, and MOST OF THE TIME its pretty safe.

I have Highway Tampa (love it), and it's still hard adjusting to no zoom on the tank cannon lol. And I could've sworn TV missiles only do 1 hit kills if you hit the back or top, is that right?

Webs, what's with you and PR, you're turning into Waaah.

Hah, I "know what I'm doing" and I still can't hit moving jeeps consistently. The hit registration on moving jeeps for TV missiles is even worse than it is for AT rockets.

At full speed, I might only kill a jeep about 35% of the time. Hitting choppers is easier.

Play on 32vs32 servers. Most of the people who get the aerial vehicles on those server suck. Plus, when a helicopter comes into view there's always more than one person shooting at it (with a tank, APC, DPV, another chopper, static-AA, etc.), so they get taken down or flee pretty quickly.

Also, if there is someone decent in a chopper, I be on extra alert by always scanning the sky when I'm in a vehicle. When I see the chopper lining up to shoot at me, or any type of behavior that would indicate it has spotted me, I just bail out of the vehicle and almost always avoid death.

TV missiles are one-hit-kills no matter where they hit the vehicle. The only 'vehicle' they don't one-hit-kill are the commander assets, and even then I believe it's only two to destroy it.

I'm kind of glad I played this before playing BF2142, because the latter has spoiled me in terms of air balance to the point that I find it difficult to enjoy myself in a game of BF2 anymore.

commander assets take 3 tv missiles to destroy if they are full health

Karkand with vehicels servers are still around, i played one the other day.

Also you might like road to jalalabad, it has tanks,APC's, squrd cars, jeeps, and hummers and no hardware in the sky.

I think jalalabad is a great map.

Unfortunately, since it's more open and has more visible range than Karkand, it also means more snipers, and more snipers means more claymores, and more claymores means more people that deserve to be hung upside down from the ceiling and caned.

Tanks are death traps.. It's just a matter of taking as many people out before a chopper hears of your whereabouts :p
