S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky - Whos tried it?

The game is pretty good, looks nice, but not rally sure wehter DX10 gives it that much of a boost.

Pitty they really only added the one new part of the world, being the swamps, but its still fun and kind of feels like a new game rather than a remake of Shadow of Chernobyl.

Got this image from in-game, totally un-edited!.

So! share your images and your stories! NOW!!

EDI - Anyone know how to make the grass not do that? w00 .

I was waiting for it to come out on steam but the day before it suppose to come out in the UK, on steam which is a day after retail, it was pushed back to the American date and is a bit more expensive than play.com so I ordered it from there. I was hoping it would come today but no luck. Hopfuly tomorrow. :dead:

It looks really nice, and it has great features. They're also updating it with quite a few patches, which I guess is a good thing.

I will get some screenshots up as well when it finally arrives.

I have played it religiously since its release, no hours of TF2 for me. Its a true pc game and despite its problems it is awesome...better than COD4 as well

upgrade that TRs301 and whack a nade launcher on the bottom and it becomes a nasty gun, atm I have fully upgraded Okoban+scope+nade launcher+silencer, fully upgraded trs301+scope+silencer+nade launcher and a fully upgraded Vintar BC which is the best dam sniper ever

and the martha pistol, or 9mm buretta for the real world

and a crap load of artifacts etc etc

heres some pics I have gathered

Nighttime in Red Forest during a thunder and lightning storm, prepare to scream

Nightvision will only help you so much as well

Bloodsuckers are now extremely dangerous as you can't hurt them while they are cloaked so its either run or fight...BOO

Messing around with an upgraded Tunder

Glowing white dots are not good

Did something change concerning the space? The weight was too much limited in part one for me.

you get a max carrying capacity of 59.9 kg

you can upgrade your suit to let it carry more and also upgrade weapons to make them lighter

then you can also get artifacts that allow you to carry a lot more, I have the highest tier artifact of this group atm and am happily carrying just under 65kg

OL is a very good mod (will probably play the CS version) and there are aspects they share

Think of CS as having all the stuff that GSC wanted to put into SoC but couldn't, stuff the we have been relying on mods to get (except no sleep still )

artifact hunting is also great, especially when a bloodsucker shows up and your are stuck in the middle of an anomalie field

              edit:

I try my hardest not to go into that dam Forest even though some of the best artifacts can be found there (not to mention a lot of stashes)

Im loving it also - Its a pitty the patches make your game saves incompatible, I guess im lucky I patched up a bit before I played :).

Can you specify the frame rate performance?

I have a question to ask those who have the game already...in the first version (SoC), the ironsights (not scope, just regular ironsights) were so inaccurate that it was more effective to just use the crosshairs. Has this been fixed in Clear Sky, or are crosshairs still the way to go.

The video in the IGN review thread ( http://www.totalgamingnetwork.com/ma...d.php?t=175360 ) shows a couple examples where the ironsights look like they're still quite inaccurate.

Over distances the iron sight will always appear less worthy, they aren't that bad in not so distant instances, I haven't really used the crosshairs except with the shotguns for close quarter encounters.

got to remember its heavily RPG/realistic etc so some guns will not be accurate at all with recoil etc unless you upgrade them, for some weapons it will also depend on ammo type

ironsights are accurate as long as you just know how to use the gun you have

you will still get the same bullet deviation if you were using a scope

Although I have now completed the game, I liked the ending although it was a tad anti climactic and I thought it could have been longer

no g36 anywhere though my beloved gun was culled

Re: S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky - Whos tried it?

Well, at least in SoC (up to at least the first 4 patches) it was a bug, not an RPG/realism element.

With the regular shoot-from-the-hip crosshair & dot, you could make headshots from very long distances with very high accuracy and low bullet deviation. Ironsights, whether close, medium, or long range were very inaccurate, which is the complete opposite of realism.

At any rate, from more and more reviews coming out so far, it appears that Clear Sky will need several patches to smooth out some of the issues being mentioned (as SoC needed as well). I think I'll wait a couple of months to pick this one up. I played SoC using the 4th patch, and had a fairly good experience, but some of my clan-mates who played it right away were getting really frustrated with the bugs at release, and losing their saved games with each new patch that came out.
