    ATi CCC lowers performance?

is it true you get more fps by installing just the WDM drivers for ATi cards instead of the whole catalyst crap?

I use the drivers in combination with the ATI Tray Tools because I get artifacts using the CCC.

i'm using just the drivers right now. seems a bit faster but not too much to be sure of much improvement. at least my task manager isn't full of CCC crap.

a pentium 4 that runs at the same frequency as a core2duo what kind of difference is there?

Well you just need the driver anyway... so if you have the CCC running on the background all the time of course it takes some computer power, although it's hardly noticable with a newer computer.

You could possibly see a performance increase with it off if you have a P4

well it does really seem faster, but that could be because i did a fresh xp install on a reformatted HD. the only in-game setting i changed was i didn't disable camera bobbing this time. does that help frame rates? i actually don't mind camera bob that much i realized.

yeah stuff just feels a bit smoother with that setting off. Seriously though just get more RAM and/ or a better cpu and uh....yeah i find it wierd that this is actually an issue for you...:|:

btw what kind of gpu do you have?

well i had a x1950 until today. i sold it and shipped it just now. now i'm stuck with onboard and no more BF for me. i have a x800GTO for backup but it doesn't seem to work anymore.

i got a brand new Q6600 based system though. i haven't bought a video card for that so i'm not even using it right now.
