how should the next BF game deal with nades and spamming
Re: how should the next BF game deal with nades and spamming
Nade spam isn't bad in 2142, if people want to spam let them. Usually they're Ganz sprayers and stuff and are really fun to watch as they try to kill you.
Re: how should the next BF game deal with nades and spamming
Never had a problem with grenades in BF2142.....and on BF2's Karkand map its only at the beginning that there's a major grenade fest. Can be annoying when you keep dying but its great when you throw one and take 3-4 people out
Re: how should the next BF game deal with nades and spamming
I like the idea of limiting how many grenades you have per kit. Assault and Support/Auto-Rifleman should get 2-3 grenades, Recon/Snipers should have only 1 and Medic/Engineer and any other supporting role (I'm not addressing only 2142) should not have any grenades. This would greatly decrease the amount of nades flying and be more like traditional combat loadouts.
Most troops don't carry nades IRL. Those who do only carry a couple and only on patrol where they'd be used. Grenades are incredibly dangerous to all nearby and they are handled with more respect than you see in the movies.
I guess what I'm saying is that a soldier will always have a rifle but not necessarily a grenade in the real world, so reducing the number allowed in-game would fit that paradigm.
Also, most grenades are distributed immediately before a confrontation and they come in a big box. So, getting a grenade supply from the commander would model that real world approach to an extent. Folks could run over and grab a couple of nades before they run out to fight.
Also, Supporters should NOT resupply themselves. Such a thing would encourage teamwork as Supporters would need to meet-up with their brethren to resupply.
Re: how should the next BF game deal with nades and spamming
Most troops in IRL don't carry pistol either. BF has never been a game that tries to represent realistic loadouts. Gameplay to some extent, but realism as far as authenticity is not one of BF2's strong points. And it shouldn't in my humble opinion.
But I do support the idea of different amounts of nades per classes though. 4 for assault and support, none for AT, and 2 for everyone else, and slightly increase the resupply time.
Re: how should the next BF game deal with nades and spamming
I'm not sure why people think this is a problem. Especially with 2142. Even with BF2 there are only a few places on a couple maps that have nade spam. And their easily avoided for the most part by not walking directly into those areas (Karkand I'm looking at you).
Re: how should the next BF game deal with nades and spamming
honestly, i think the best solution is not to resupply nades at all from supply ammo kit, and at the most only resupply via commander supply drops. i also like different loadouts for different roles. why would a sniper need 3 grenades?
nade spam might not be as bad as previous BF games, but the whole nade resupplying mechanism could and should improve for better gameplay. not everything has to be realistic, right but does it even begin to make sense how a support soldier has *UNLIMITED* amount of grenades at his disposal? whether you personally run into instances where you are on the other end of this nonsense is trivial, but the problem exists and there should be a sensible solution.
Re: how should the next BF game deal with nades and spamming
Nade spammers in BF2 are easy to kill.. just flank them. They are too occupied with throwing nades and giving ammo that they want know you are behind them until you kill them and there squad.
