Hey DICE, here's another suggestion for your next patch

I know you've basically given up on the in-game browser, but if your code monkey finds the courage to sift through your three lines of code, give him a few bananas on the condition that he find a way to add a function that would limit the amount of time your sh*tty browser tries to retrieve server information.

It's not a difficult task, see... all you need to do is make it STOP WAITING for a server to answer after, oh... say, 150 milliseconds? Thank you, DICE: while I know this is completely pointless, I like to think my suggestion isn't falling on deaf, or worst, apathetic ears.

    Love, Sloi. -xox-

There should at least be a ping filter. Make it so you can choose how high a ping you will accept, and have the browser stop looking once it's found the ones that fit the bill. Some people live in remote areas, and make do with pings higher than 150. Let those people give it a little more time to search for more servers. Many other games have this filter, including a few that came out even before BF2.

Swap out the F-35's with F-18's on maps with the Essex to create better balance. Seems easy. Darken the sky on Dragon Valley a couple of notches. I would be happy with these two adjustments.

Woah now, motherf*cker! That's highly technical code! How dare you ask so much from the mighty coder monkey? For shame. :shakehead:

Sadly, it's just standard Boolean logic that you could write in Basic. If X > Y then... I guess with all of these powerful languages that have come out since then they have lost functionality. Unless you mean to say that these people who are paid to make computer games are either too stupid or too lazy to code such a thing... I make my living working for the Army. If I screw up the way these people have been, I'd be thrown in jail at Leavenworth. I guess professional standards don't apply to everyone.

Maybe it should integrate game-monitors search engine...

And maybe a way to filter out the IO servers? I know you can do it the other way around and filter out the vehicle servers, but when you want a vehicle server you have to sift through a bunch of craptacular IO servers before you find one (or, I guess, just sort by map and skip all the Karkand servers, heh).

I'd like to see them have a 'cancel' button for when your trying to login to BF2. If their server is down, or your net is having problems, the only thing you can do is reset.

I'd like them to remove the Play-Now feature.

The amount of times I've clicked on disconnect and it started the Play-Now search...my god. >:3

I don't know whether this would be possible. A lot of the time, developers outsource other companies to create the server browser. I know this happened in one such game released relatively lately, although i won't say which.

This can be a reason why the game and server browser don't play hand in hand. If DICE had done such a thing, they won't want to outsource what is a functioning product again in order to save costs. Plus, they won't want their devs diving into code they don't know or didn't build.

Just send a newsletter to all ERTS shareholders, stating there's a new "big thing" coming and it will increase their Dividend ROI in the next quarter and all they have to do is vote "yes" !!! Tell them it will cost a small fee (out source it to India like everyone else does); call it 2008_bf2_srv_brwsr_updt.exe and bada bing bada bang.

Anyone who refuses to play because of the browser will come back. Anyone who hasn't bought the game cause of the browser will buy it. The cost of 2 games will cover the cost in Roooooopies!!!

Well if the servers are down or you're having net problems, then you're not going to be playing. So wouldn't alt + F4 be sufficient?
