would you be happy if BF3 was basically CoD4 with vehicles and bigger maps? just gameplay-wise, not talking about the stat-tracking and awards system. CoD4 has the nice graphics, smooth game engine, and decent physics; if they just put in vehicles and made the maps BF size, would you be happy with it as the next BF game? just the big picture, not nitpicking every little thing.

i think i'd take that in a heartbeat.

With moar maps, weapon customization, moar maps, less explosive weapons and a somewhat realistic look to it a-la battlefield 2.

Cod4 gameplay is meh in my opinion, it just doesn't sit right, perhaps its too fast paced.

I like my control scheme and the "feel" that battlefield has. I would take it over any fps any day.

the only reason i stopped playing CoD4 after 3 months was because they didnt have a leaderboard so its like im not working towards anything

BF2142=win because

Physics
stat system
its sci fi, but not tooo sci fi
its deeper caus you got resupply, healing, easier comm communication
player models look cooler and distinctly show player movements

BF2142=fail ..when

in CoD4 i pull out an M16 and kill a guy sprinting sideways jumping through the air in one burst 75% across the map on Bog. i liked hc mode because all i had to do was be a little bit quicker and they would be dead just crouch walking around and stuff

I was playing SP COD4 last night. The sniper mission in the deserted russian town thinking this would be awesome as a 2142 map.

Personally I think 2142 is pretty much spot on. Even though the graphics are slightly dated they do the job perfectly. The clean, desolate look adds to the atmosphere imo.

All we really need is some more maps. weapons and vehicles. Some new unlocks. New content basically. I would like to see another booster.

After playing COD4, the thought of yet another present day, middle east scenario is uninspiring. I might skip BF3 and stick with 2142.

COD4 visuals are fine as long as we get destroyable terrain, buildings, stuff and more stuff.

yeah but i love how you can kill people through walls and objects in COD4. esp. w/ extreme penetration. shooting through things is a must more so than destructible environment and objects. i mean it's already hard enough trying to kill someone through a metal fence in 2142!

well i wouldn't say its a better game than 2142 as a total package, but combine the best elements of the two together and it's an ultimate game.

The bullet penetration in COD4 is way over the top. I'll buy a 50 caliber machine gun punching through a brick wall and lesser weapons through wood. But i don't think the round an m16 or ak fires will pass clean through brick and kill stuff on the other side like they do in COD4.

They should simply introduce the fallowing.

Light cover: may shield you visually, doesn't stop incoming fire, only reduces dmg by say 10%.

Medium cover: shields you from weapons generally carried by infantry, anti material sniper rifle will penetrate, as will high caliber MG's found on vehicles.

Heavy cover: pk-rocket/flanking time.

Houses and such would be generally provide medium cover, light if you decide to hide behind a wooden door or whatever. Heavy cover would only come in forms of massive concrete columns, rubble or otherwise, broken down armor and assorted stuff as not to confuse people too much.

Its a deserted Ukrainian town. Being of direct Ukrainian heritage I would hate to give the russians any credit especially now that they are picking on smaller countries like Georgia.

But as for BF with COD physique I don't think it would work. It would feel too easy to shoot people, like in an action movie. Its those times when your spraying an RPD in circles and dropping half a company of marines doesnt feel like war, more like a cheap van dam flick.
