I recently came back to playing after months of not playing and I found that I am a complete n00b again. I can't hit anything for **** and I am playing maps I used to not because I'm on a full rotation server.

So, though I know the game, know the equipment...I lost that edge of pinpoint quick-twitch shooting and knowledge of how to run around people. It is a new game again in someways.

Exactly the same here. I got back to it recently but there's a huge gap between now and when I started, mainly because I played 2142 a lot. I still haven't got far in terms of rank so I still enjoy it a lot. In a way, I'm still a noob

I find that I am playing serious noob style by going support and using grenades and playing sniper more. Arg, I need that trigger finger back!

I haven't played for awhile, I quit playing because I was plain sick of it. But, every now and then I'll give the game a go, and get my assh handed to me. If I started a new account, my KDR would be about 1, compared to about 2 before I quit. I don't know if by definition I'm a noob, but it sure feels like one.

Yes, i think i miss been a noob, or at least i have good memories of been a noob, like hiding up a crane the whole round and thinking it was skillful to get 5 kills and 0 deaths in a round as sniper.

Or the time i thought BF2 had a red team and a blue team, (name tags) and for 2 days i went round killing my team mates and could not think were the minus points came from.

Honestly, while I do miss the initial "Wow" factor, I don't miss being a noob. When I was new to gaming - and new to BF2 for that matter - I always wanted to get better, be one of the top-notch players.
So, while I wasn't the cream of the crop, I loved being a good player - being able to try new techniques without wandering aimlessly. The initial shock of the new gameplay elements wears off in time, as it should - but the desire to be better will always be something to work towards.

Actually, yeah, that is how I feel. I do not like not being in the top 5 on the player list at the end of the round. Knowing that I was running around people and being called a hacker, but it was just practice and developed skill.

Maybe I should go to my backup account for a little while. Not like my stats really matter anymore with such an old game. I just hate screwing up my old accuracy ratios. My KDR was always bad from the months I ran around (when I was a n00b) playing medic and just reviving.

Bah, I miss having some skills...I hate dieing.

I just got back into BF2 from COD4 my biggest problem is always hitting the melee button. Then watching myself get shot. lol

                      Hi TGN

I my self do miss that new to the fps scene feeling,I remember ONE of my very first FPS games I played online,That was Team Fortress Classic.

I have tried/played many fps games tho they may be fun I just have not to this day found that game that brings the feeling of "newness?" back to me.

YES I miss being a NOOB to the entire scene in alot of ways,in some ways like when problems come about with installs/files/compatibilty I am glad I have the experience to solve many of my own issues as they present themselves.

                      :salute:TGN:salute:

Well judging by the attitude of alot of people in this forum, especially regarding who should have what asset, I don“t think being a noob would be very fun. I guess I am one anyway, since I only play mods...

be support, chuck ammo pouches at your feet, press 4, LMB. you are now a noob again.

I sure do. It was fun playing with my buddy past midnight exploring all the new maps and just having a good time. Same with 2142, it was fun being a noob. :)

I can totally relate to this. BF2 amazed me with endless possibilities when i first started playing. It was my motivation to build my first computer.

There is a simple solution to this, dont do what you do to get points, ie dont just play medic, play the kits you used to when you were a n00b.

i do it all the time run in with a shotty just to get 1 kill then raped but it makes the game fun again.
