Hi guys and gals, I have been using my com on my 37" tv for a while now but i can neva get bF2 working. It will give me a blank screen after i start it up and go back to the desktop, Whats goin on?

Also how would i make the game able to use the large maps and have as many bots on as i want(on single player)?

I think this is because Battlefield 2 will not support widescreen resolutions unless you force it to try this

On the battlefield 2 shortcut on your desktop change the following lines if you have 1080p tv

"C:\Games\Battlefield 2 \BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1920 +szy 1080

or a 720p tv

"C:\Games\Battlefield 2 \BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1680 +szy 720

that should work but im not certain myself

Change what lines? im confused lol, Also im running it on vista so i have to "run as administrator to get the game to run"

Change the lines in the shortcut.

To answer your 2nd question, there are a few mods that allow you to play SP on bigger maps, but I don't know any by name [using a mod is the only way]. However, I would recommend checking out AIX, it's designed to be a SP-enhancement mod (but can be played online as well) and gives you bigger maps (with bots), new vehicles, weapons, etc.

::Edit, when did BF2 start doing this? I think that's a problem with the game, if it crashes, not necessarily the TV. Try reinstalling, that normally solves any crashes/similar problems.

wicked, ill try that mod, i remember i had it AGES ago when i had my old pc but it could'nt handle it,
Now i got my new one i wanna crank up the pace a have a good match of 100v100 if that possible


As for the shortcut idea, it did'nt work, i gave me the black screen for a few seconds and then goes back to desktop again, Its a git cuz it works on my 19" monitor, but now i wanna use it on my 37" tv its actin up

any ideas?

If you hook it up to your other monitor right NOW and try it, it works?

Hmmm, not sure about that then. If you haven't tested it on the old monitor, try that really quickly.

The problem is the fact that the TV wont understand the Codecs in order to show the game.
For Example, you may not have this problem, but when i try and run a video with windows media player on the TV it comes up black, this is due to the tv not recognizing the signals being sent into it, the codecs being used.

Chances are your TV doesn't recognize the codecs that BF2 uses.

What type of cable are you using to connect your PC to your TV with?

Actually, codecs have nothing to do with your monitor. I connect my other PC to my 52" and it will display whatever I run. The only reason it should show up black on a TV if it's set to the right resolution is if you have it set as a second monitor. I don't remember where the setting is, but you have to tell your driver software to run full motion video on one monitor or the other if you have multiple.

ohh god, all i want is the game to run, i no it work on my other monitor cuz ive moved it back and forth several times, and as for the resolution it works on everything else,


Oh, and as an update, when i click the shortcut the square logo pops up in the middle of the screen(the bf2 logo with karkand in the background)

Are there any other code i can change the shortcut to in order to get it working.

Move the Battlefield 2 folder from My Documents on to your desktop, reboot your pc with the 37" hooked up and see if the game runs, just move it back and overwrite the new one if it doesn't.
Make sure you have your login info as you will need to set the game up from scratch.
If it doesn't work then your 37" may have a refresh rate below 60Hz and most likely wont work.

If it works you can use the widescreen fix to create two shortcuts, one for your 19" and one for the 37".

Actually it is 1366x768 for HD Ready TV so correct line is probably
"C:\Games\Battlefield 2 \BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1366 +szy 768

or

"C:\Games\Battlefield 2 \BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1280 +szy 720

When you use the TV as a monitor, what refresh rate does it show on the computer (e.g. dxdiag output)? If it's 50Hz that is likely the problem; BF2 doesn't seem to work with a 50Hz refresh (some Thinkpad notebooks also have this problem). If you run the game in windowed mod it gives you an error that it doesn't support that resolution even at the game's default 800x600.

You will want to set the resolution to the resolution of your TV which should be 1280x720 or 1920x1080 if it is an HDTV.
