    Ways to increase my framerate?

    Intel Celeron CPU 2.8ghz
    512 mb Ram (256mb x 2)
Nvidia 6200 256mb (PCI not PCI-e) [not overclocked]
    CMI8738 Sound Card

Well thats my computer, and I can get 15-ish fps when playing battlefield 2, playing on 1024 x 768 all settings on medium, AA is off, 5.1 surround sound, high quality audio, EAX is off ... but I wanna get around 30-ish fps if possible

I'm considering buying a 1gb ram stick, to bring my total ram up to 1.3gb.. would it increase my frames per second?

Also i was wondering if overclocking my card would help as well, if anyone could help tell me this, it'd be much appreciated :salute:

ps. if there are any, sorry for the bad grammer and stuff :P (1/2 asleep lol)

pps. Sorry if this should have gone in the Support section, I wasn't sure :shakehead:

the xtra ram will defo help, also download a free program called Rivatuner to overclock your card. I don't know if you'll make 30 fps but you can try. IMO don't even spend money on ram, save up and buy a good pc that can handle today's games.

He won't be able to overclock that card, so no point in trying.

You need a new graphics card, then new RAM, then a new CPU.

      Basically, a new computer.

I would, but now's not the time for me:hmm:
So the extra ram would definitely help then, eh?
        Thanks alot :)

Yea, 1gb stick and you would find it wayyy faster loading and less 'starting lag', that is why you should go for 2GB runs so much smoother. Yea, if you want to play bf2 better the RAM needs to up to atleast 2GB and think about getting a better GPU.

Honestly.. with that kind of computer why are you even ATTEMPTING medium settings?

15 FPS in the BF2 counter is not accurate.. it's like a cap.. similar to the 99.9 cap that you can remove.. So it might say 15 fps but you could be getting like 5 fps which is FAR from unplayable. 30 fps is pretty much the bare minimum for being able to play and it isn't affecting game play too much if at all.

Turn all the settings all the way down.

And FFS.. you can spend $200 and get a computer that kills that probably... sadly. Unless it's a laptop.. in which case.. yeah.. turn the settings ALL the way down.

I'm not using the FPS counter in BF2, I'm using fraps, and I was under the impression that it was really accurate. Have you ever seen the game with all the settings on low? Uuuuuugly :dead:
I'll just turn some lower I guess until I can get more RAM

And yeah, I know I can easily buy a computer that kills my current one, but I really can't buy one right now (unfortunately).

Also, I can play Far Cry all on Medium/High settings at 30 FPS, and the game looks a lot nicer than BF2 :P

Like Metallica said: use 800x600, all settings low if hope to have any playable frame rates.

                      Would that completely remove shadows?
That'd suck, because it wouldn't look good at all :hmm:

Thanks for the help everyone btw

You've got a 6200 256MB PCI and you're worried about anything newer than UT 2K4 looking good?

Welllll..... seeing as I can run Far Cry and CoD2 both on 1024 x 768 , combo of medium/high settings, at a smooth running 30 FPS, and both games came out after UR2x4 .... yeah, I am worried

yeah but bf2 is newer and is more demanding.
