I don't remember if COD 4 had an online beta. So I would like to know if COD has a beta and if it is open or not. Also if it does come out when could the beta come out?

Re: Online beta
COD4 had an online multiplayer Beta for Xbox360 only. It was announced in mid July of 2007, and went live to the public at the end of August. COD4 itself then hit the shelves in the first week of November.
As far as I've read, nothing similar has yet been announced for COD:WW, and their release date has been listed as "holidays", which could either refer to the time around US Thanksgiving or possibly Christmas.

Re: Online beta
I would recommend getting a 360, whether there is an exclusive CoD beta again for Xbox360 or not. It's just a great system with great service. After playing CoD4 beta at the IW Beta Event in LA in early August, I went out and bought a 360 for the beta/game (I play it on the PC as well but mostly for modding and trying other mods/maps).
There are PC community guys too who even play on the 360 although not all of them say so publically cause some PC guys tend to label people.
It's just easier to play with people compared to having to coordinate on Xfire and using Vent/TS or in-game server browser etc... while sitting on a chair at your computer when you can kick back and quickly just join a friend who's in progress or send an invite.

Re: Online beta
The COD4 Xbox360 online demo was mostly to test Xbox Live capability, and some balance issues for the new MP setup. In theory, COD:WW using the same engine/tech as COD4, and sharing many of the same features, the same type or scale of a beta isn't really necessary (even though everyone would welcome it).
Betas and demos are great for the consumer, but they actually require a fair bit of work behind the scenes to get them set up - it's not a simple task to separate the beta/demo from the rest of the game and release it. This takes time away from the development and finalizing of the actual game (including testing). COD4 was new and huge, so it was a very good idea, but from a technical standpoint it's probably not needed for COD:WW.
If they have time and resources to do it, demos/betas are good for publicity and buzz though. I am totally in favour of them, but there are some drawbacks and roadblocks that can sometimes make them less feasible.

Re: Online beta
Since some people are skeptical about this game (CoDWW), it could help to bring in more customers if a demo/beta went well, or further solidify the opinion of some who are not happy the series is going back to WWII. Of course, if the game comes out and word of mouth quickly spreads that it's amazing, the sells will instantly go up. Demos/betas seem to help the pre-order or initial sales, but if a game is good, it will sell greatly in the long run no matter what.
I know the crysis mp beta probably hurt their sales as I, and others I know who were playing it, told everyone not to waste their time if they were getting it for mp. I finally played sp a couple weeks ago (got it free with a gfx card, but hadn't played it) and that sp story was pretty lame. I guess the hype was just over the graphics/fx and such.

Re: Online beta
CoD 4 is a sick game, I just hope that this release won't hurt it too badly if everyone migrates to WaW.
I plan to keep playing CoD 4. It's a shame though that the map constest fell through. That would have kept things even more interesting.
I pre-ordered this and am very excited to see what becomes of it. I also heard rumors that base assault will be included. I miss that mode so much from UO.
Looking forward to the beta.
