I for one still think there is life left in BF2 and 2142. Sure there will be a huge drop in the next couple of weeks, but the die hards will come back once they're bored with BC2.

If they have been honest about the "after BC2" thing, then I would hope that the patch is already being worked on given that all of the work on BC2 is completed and it's being shipped.

I wouldn't be surprised if they postpone the 1.51 patch until after 1943 for the PC has been released.

Yeah, I dont see how they are going to get the patch finished. They dropped all other projects to get Bad Company 2 completed. 1943 is still up there along with the increasing rumors of BF3 and then the patch. From what seems like a lack of resources they are either going to have to push 43 further back and complete the patch or dump the patch and get 43 done quicker.

Or higher people, but I dont know how feasible that is and what the learning curve is to get started on projects that are already on the go.

That seems unlikely. They won't be making any money off of this patch and although the game still has many diehard fans, numbers have been dwindling for quite some time. They're merely doing it to be nice to those players that are left. Soon they'll probably be working on a patch for BC2.
It'll probably just be postponed, until they have the spare people/resources to complete it.

they will be making money as the completion of patch means the game will go on sale at steam and d2d with the incentive of free northern strike. also, i believe EA store is offering free 2142 for BC2 orders so there is some urgency to get this done.

baza has already said the programmer who was busy with BC2 is back on 2142 trying to fix couple major bugs holding the patch back. oh and apparently they are also going to fix the EU transport gun, lol.
