Well, for one thing, people have been complaining about the J10 imbalance since like, f*cking EVER... and DICE hasn't done sh*t to balance the game. We don't want cosmetic upgrades, you hear us? Seriously, if your patch consisted only of fixing the f*ckin' jets, we'd be as happy as pigs in mud.

3. BF2 patch is released but no one cares/no one playing
4. We beg to Dice to give us a new BF1942 patch

There needs to be another game similar to 1942 with improved graphics/etc., but with the same core gameplay. Seriously, that would easily be the next major online FPS...

You mean like Forgotten Hope 2?
That's one mod that could definitely qualify as a stand-alone product, imo.
Sadly, it's not as popular as you would think.


Anyway, about this patch...IF they fixed just one or two gameplay imbalances, I would be shocked and pleasantly surprised. Judging from past patches, however, this is going to do something like include a new map (complete with some corporate branding), a new game mode that will be relatively unplayed, add in some functionality they've been promising modders for three years, and then alter the code to release the game in the wild.

I'd be very surprised if they did anything that actually related to much gameplay fixes/changes since it's been so long after the last patch that it wouldn't even make sense from an economic perspective or even a gamer's perspective (as if 10,000 people are going to re-install BF2 to play a new map...and even if they did, as if this would make sense for EA to encourage when they are on the verge of releasing a slew of BF games).

I'm thinking it's more likely they'll allow localized stats and authentication so EA can begin dropping corporate support for official servers and reallocate their resources to the newer games.

Alternatively, you could probably look at the BF2142 change log and see which fixes/changes would fit into BF2 and that's probably the update since 2142 was just a modified (updated) Refractor2 engine.

But I've been wrong before and maybe EA/Dice will surprise me.

I just wish they hadn't messed up the net code and hit detection at least. If you go play 1.0 on internet, it's all smooth. Ragdolls play better, hit detection is as if you were playing on SP, it ALWAYS registers there is no dust clouds coming out and hits not registering, your sniper sights won't wear off by themselves, there is no delay when shooting a grenade launcher, etc. It's all just PERFECT. Then when you upgrade to newest, it's not smooth anymore, and the hit's won't register as good as it did in 1.0.

Even the game menu has a better response. And overall fps is better. Sounds are better. Almost everything is better in 1.0. They should revert back to 1.0 and fix the worst bugs, the code is all messed up now.

Well i don't think we will hear ANYTHING this week.

Infact i think it will take weeks if not months to hear anything.

But you say that you can speak to birds so lets just wait and see if we hear anything this week, am saying not.

Bjorn (thats how we call him) had a weird feeling for a month now, he had the same feeling everyday, like he forgot something.

Can someone explain to me why we are now getting a patch? Even after EA said that they werent releasing another patch back in 06, its like EA/DICE telling the community to screw itself and buy 2142 then coming back all apologetic two years later its gotta have a deeper meaning

maybe there developing a new BF for the PC and theyve just realised that keeping all the bf2 community bitter and spiteful wont be good for sales and PR when they release another game

Plus my bf2 disk is damaged so it wont reinstall, Same thing has happened to one of my friends disk who also bought the first release, if i contact EA about the issue will i get any response worth reading?
