latensy compensation is a vast setting. if it is set to 100 and you play on a 20 ping server it still will compensate a ping of 100. so you accually need to aim behind the target to hit them. if you set it on the exact value of your ping you will hit where you aim else you will have to aim somewhat behind or in front of your target
