lol what on earth makes u think renaming the videos would affect alt tabbing ?!?!

My friends and I just started playing BF 2142 after 3 years of BF 2. Most of us are experiencing constant lock ups when we alt-tabbed out of the game.

I found the suggestion of leaving the dice.bik video there and tested it out. And so far it works great! :yay:

probably just placebo effect mate ... u think it's working because of the dice fix when in actual fact it's because it does alt-tab fine for a while but it will start screwing up eventually. also if ur new you may want to look into something called radial.cdb cos that little son of a ***** will cause you all kinds of fun otherwise xD

and dettol kills germs but i wouldn't use it to brush my teeth ... my point is if i have to put up with my game crashing SOMETIMES when i alt tab so i can skip that annoying crap at the start so be it ... hell with xfire, ingame itunes control and teamspeak hotkeys why would i need to alt tab lol


on a side not im pretty sure alt tabbing crshed me before i got rid of the movies .. i forget , that was many moons ago ...

hey that actually worked for me! now i can log out and log back in without freezing up. why DICE made it like this is beyond me, do they want to force us to watch their logo every time we start the game?

well i'm using a blank .bik file now; here it is if someone else wants to use it. it really works now!

Ummm no. Ever since I got the game (2 weeks ago), it freezes when ever I alt-tabed out. I was actually amazed if it didn't. So the placebo theory doesn't apply. If your talking about something more subjective, like FPS, then you might be on to something.

you know what you could do is just shut the game off and turn it back on instead of doing alt+tab this and ctrl+alt that

It takes a lot longer to restart the game (even without movies) than to alt-tab. I've renamed my entire movies folder but I've never had any problems alt-tabbing.

^^ go here C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142 Deluxe Edition\mods\bf2142\Movies (vista) and change the movie names from blabla.bik to blabla.bikky or anything u want, then voila no intro movies

Or just rename the whole movies folder.
