    Weapon Balancing

Now that the game has been out a while what do you think about the weapon balancing. Do you think any changes should be made or do you think its fine as it is?

Personally I think the following changes should be made:

    Assualt
I think the assualt rifles need a bit of a power boost or accuracy boost as at the minute it seems a better idea to play support than assualt as you have a medi pack, repair drill, mortar and 300 bullets.
Also the granade launcher should be beefed up as its a mission to kill people with it.

    Recon
The sniper rifles are fine so I don't think any changes need to be made there. The pistol however seems to be 2-3 hit kill which is a bit silly really. I think the damage should be reduced as it should be a last resort weapon for the sniper not a close combat alternative.

    Support
Personally I would swap the medi pack with the assualt medi kit to give the assualt class more going for it as the support guy has enough going for him. The support weapons themselves tho seem fine.

    Specialist
The specialist class seems pretty well balanced. So no changes needed there.

    Demolition
Demolition Class seems OK. I still prefer the old style engineer that could repair vehicles as well but I'm not too bothered about that. Shotgun might need a range slight reduction as its 1 hit kill and at the moment can kill from about 20 yards away.

Yeah i never really understood the pistol, it always seemed that people could 2 shot me, then when i used it it was 4-5 shots. Some good points overall.

I dont know about you, but I feel the unlock guns in each class are pretty under powered. The only class I dont feel this is a problem in is the support class just because power is made up by numbers (more bullets). But look at the assault class. The F2000 is pretty damn weak and takes an entire clip almost to kill someone. Same with the one ak looking gun *cant think of the name of it*. Also the M8 rifle should have the same power across the board. Why is the compact version stronger than the assault version and the support version? Its the same gun with a shorter barrel. Idk.. I just think that they need to re-look the power ratings for all these guns these guns.

I think the idea is that the other guns aren't necessarily upgrades, but alternatives. Eg, someone might prefer a more accurate Specialist gun, like the UMP, whilst another might prefer a super-speedy Uzi to just pepper the entire place with bullets.

I agree with most of whats said. the idea of swapping the assault medi kit with the support one is an idea Ive had.. it allows the support guy to keep going and gives the assault class something else to do.. (like in 2142)

And as limehouse said the unlocks are alternatives... take assault.. the xm8 is a good all-round gun but it don't excel in any particular way. the f2000 is more of an SMG, so it's great on the small maps but is rubbish on the bigger maps where range is an issue. And the M16 is the opposite, It's great at range but suffers up close... as people have said before the trick to the game is learning when to use what weapon :)

            I agree with this...

Assault and sniper class has both the same thing. Some weapons in sniper class are really outstanding when sniping really long distances. But they ain't that good in closer enviroment. With the few semi-automatics, they ain't that good in long distances(compared to the bolt action ones). But they are outstanding in city.

So basically you could say that the current classes(well, atleast few of them has) has some weapon for every situation.. And i like it this way...

Well when I have an enemy right in front of me really close or even when they turn a corner to see me right in front of them I shoot with the normal sniper which isn't an unlock and I get a kill. This might be cause they're injured (they might have less than 90) but this has happened to me so many times that it makes me think that the sniper rifle is 1 shot kill when real close.

I have noticed too that from close it's one shot one kill with snipers(well, atleast with M24 and M95)...

But what i meant with my earlier post that. Because the M24 and M95 has bigger zoom compared to the semi-autos. It's more difficult to quickly acquire target.

So because of the lower zoom, the semi-autos are outstanding in the city enviroment...

I totally disagree with what you say about the assault class.

First off, an M16 will always beat any of the LMGs in a one on one confrontation. The assault rifles have much better accuracy, and the LMG accuracy is very low... even with the most accurate of them, the MG36, compared to the M16. Therefore, more bullets are landed on target. :P

Alsoo, the unlock for the Assault class "Life-2" is the best unlock in the game. Who doesn't want a random regeneration of health at any time? Its the only thing I miss with the specialist class.

I wasn't saying that the LMG's were better than the assualt rifle. My point is that there is less overall going for the assualt class and that you will find more players playing support than assualt as it has better overall equipment. Anyway the life 2 is no different than a medi pack apart from the fact you can't heal team mates with it.

Anyway would you rather have 300 bullets and a morter or a slightly more accurate gun and a weak grenade launcher?

Yea, thats right in theory, although i have actually had alot of good times with the F2000 firing at range.

Its uber-low recoil and fast rate of fire seem to give it a Voss quality, it doesn't do much damage but it panics them, and it puts so many rounds down range that you often get the kill anyway.

Either that or i have been extremely lucky. :p

Yeah the xm8 is the same for the support kit, i call it an assist gun as you get less kills but lots more assists using it... i think that the F2000 is much the same.

It still doesn't cut it... the mortar isn't very good I've found, and it may be slightly more accurate, but it makes a HUGE difference in the means of a one on one situation. And the Life-2 is basically instaheal whenever you want it, its a little faster and easier than the medi pack.

Lets put it this way, if you have a squad of assault versus a squad of supports, the assaults would win, only because of the accuracy of their gun...

Even if you don't think the mortar isn't very good surely you agree that it is miles more effective than the grenade launcher. Also medi kit is more useful than the life 2 as you can heal your team mates with it. The difference in heal time is minimal and hardly noticable. You can get miles more points with support than assualt with these 2 things alone.

Now add that to the fact you don't need to reload for a very long time with support and a decent long range ability then you have the reasons why more people are support than assualt.

Assualt should be the most prominent class in the game but it isn't. You have more people currently playing recon or support or specialist than you do assualt. It needs something special to make people want to play it and right now I don't think it does. Thats why I think it would benefit with a more powerful grenade launcher and swap the life 2 with the support medi kit. Then people would have a reason to play as assualt.
