yes it works, i was using widescreen fixer and now i dont. theres no zoomed in/stretched look.

add +widescreen 1 to the shortcut and then select the approriate resolution in the options

running smooth on 1680x1050 8xAA and look beautiful :yay:

i have a 17" crt here, i'm planing on getting a 19" Asus with 1680x1050 res and 3000:1 contrast or something like that, now my question is this, will the game look good on it? i've never played a game on widescreen before.

Yes it will look great! I play on a 22" widescreen, I wouldn't go smaller.

The widescreen support is so you dont see stretching. It works great. I used it just now.

Is the FOV (field of view) increased for widescreen resolutions (is it HOR+ or VERT-) ? Is 2D graphics like the crosshair still streched?

Little bit of tinkering and it works; don't replace +fullscreen 1 with +widescreen 1, just tag it on the end. I was using the widescreen tag before but now it works

Okay I have changed

"C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142\BF2142.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1680 +szy 1050

to

"C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142\BF2142.exe" +menu 1 +widescreen 1 +szx 1680 +szy 1050

and the resolution 1680 x 1050 is available in the options screen:yay:

When you do that though I believe it will set the resolution to 1680 x 1050 no matter what you try to change it to. I just added the +menu 1 +widescreen 1 and I get every resolution my laptop can handle. Just wish it could handle playing in 1900x1200 I get 12fps on medium :banghead:

it feels odd for a couple days but you get used to it pretty quick, i thought it didnt look right at first i actually think widescreen is kind of bad looking now that i think about it caus it doesnt help your field of view or anything.

Looks better on widescreen. The human eye is better suited to wide displays rather than square ones. More going on in your peripheral vision. If the FOV is properly adjusted then you should get a small advantage because your view is a touch wider.

I have a 22" LG widescreen that I would recommend. It only cost £195 which is a bargain.

I don't know why they didn't go for full widescreen like 2:35 - 1, movie frame style. Now that would be cool.

even if i didnt want a wide screen (wich i do) i wouldnt have much choice on my budget ehehe, that Asus screen i spoke of seems to be the best in that price and area range, and its still bigger then my 16" (yes 16 weird innit?) 7 or 8 year old samtron crt screen :p

The price spent on the newer screen would pay for itself in about a week due to energy savings. And you'd get a big :thumbsup: from Al Gore

Good for you, that's great. Will have to try that resolution, been looking for a nice trade-off between performance and screen goodness. :)

I got a 20" widescreen last year. There's no way I can go back to a square screen ever again!
