Seriously guys, give them a bit. You don't know how much they're being paid to do this or how many staffers/programmers/mappers they have to help with the work (and I'd be willing to put mony on the fact that it's only a handful of people).

You obviously haven't looked for anything by the way you are acting, you don't know of any, your attitude and word choice is very rude to those that release community content, and you have next to no idea how much time and effort (most, if not all) mappers, modders, scripters, etc. put forth to release a bug-free and fun product.

Some maps are not that good, and some mods aren't that nice. But there are plenty (and when I say plenty, I mean it) good maps and good mods. There are even mods that do not change anything, just a mod being run to play custom maps.

Oh my god. I never said I don't play custom maps, I've played many maps and mods much more than I have played vanilla lately. I'm just tired of waiting 20 minutes when I join a random server to download a new map when there's a good chance that it will be ****. I think some custom maps are extremely good, more fun the the official maps even. On average, though, custom maps are not as well made as the IW maps. So I'm sincerely sorry if I offended any mapmakers or modders out there, because I really do appreciate their work. I do think, however, that it would be nice if Activision would quit looking for a ways to screw over us PC gamers and release the maps. I'm sorry if this sounds unreasonable, Spik3d.

And btw, I've spent hundreds of hours over the years creating and playing custom maps and content for other types of PC games. So yeah, I have an idea how much work it takes to make a good map. I don't think it's heresy to say that the people at IW are probably the best in the world at making maps for CoD4.

Dude, I hit level 55 a week after I got the game and most mods have everything unlocked for everyone anyway, I couldn't care less whether or not I play on ranked servers. And If you haven't noticed, the maps have been out for the 360 for over month, it wouldn't take a huge number of staffers/programmers/mappers several months to get them working on PC.

I would like to play some custom maps, but every time I try to join I'm always asked to DL additional files - Like custom clan related garbage. I don't want to enable auto downloads - Never know what you'll catch. Is there any servers out there that run custom maps but DO NOT have mods?

Would you pay for official map updates from IW? They should release a new official map every month for like $5.00 with a key to allow you to unlock the map.

I wouldn't. And I know plenty plenty of others that would rather spend a few minutes downloading a small mod and play custom maps than spend money and play IW maps.

This would also ruin the game, because if a user is playing on a server and the server switches to a map that they have not bought, then they will not want to play the game as much (having to find new servers, etc, etc).

Yeah i agree with spike, just how in Battlefield how they released map packs that you had to buy. Servers running the maps would switch and players (even friends of mine) wouldn't be able to play on the same server. Sure IW would make alot of money, but just look at half of the gamers who have to beg for a credit card from their parents. Finally the game would lose intrest less than two months from people not to pay for a map.

On the other note, just play a different game for awhile if your tired of the same maps. I've been playing TF2 and C&C3 more than before because of the maps how it can get boring at times. If your fussing over one patch and maps then you don't deserve to be a gamer because i've dealt with it, and even others have dealt with it in Battlefield about how long it can take for a new patch, and maps. It's summer two, go outside and do something else than just complaining on forums saying crap like "I want a new map, whens the new map pack coming out? when the new patch coming out? blah blah blah" it's rediculus, and grow up it's a game for fun not complaining.
