Re: Would you support BF series games if pay for play?

Would I pay to play a game in which my transport has a faulty gun, my armoury can't give me the same equipment as the last time I went through, my gunship's shields are described as "pretty" but not effective, my enemies can shoot through walls, and people have the ability to steer a pod that's supposed to go down, not out....have the reflexes of a cat to shoot me dead on the first bullet, and can call in an arial strike from the entire German Luftwaffe?!

    No probably not!

      I voted unsure.
not keen on the whole pay2play thing.
but if it insures ongoing support and updates then why not:salute:

"my gunship's shields are described as "pretty" but not effective"

thats classic, and pretty well said.

Still, "free" software that you pay 10$ a month for, or 120$ a year....no:shakehead:

There would have to be 128 player servers, 50 official servers per continent, huge player base, at least 6 different armies, huge variety of vehicles.

I voted unsure, but most likely I wouldn't pay.

This is the stupidest idea, games are getting expensive enough.

Yes, if we were getting the same level of content like in WOW.

But no mention of the venue, which IMO is the major selling point. Since hosting the servers is what brings in (or costs) the dough after the game has been sold there would be no reason for a subscription fee if EA still made us rent our own servers. Don't mean to seem like I'm nitpicking you mate , but I didn't see you mention the venue being provided anywhere. :)

Wow, my communication skills are really lacking. Well, I'm trying here...

Suppose for $10 a month you had unlimited access to a huge combined arms, first person shooter battlefield. It would have persistent ranking, custom character development, regular content upgrades and a clan match system.
For me, that describes the venue... the whole "access to a huge ... battlefield" part.

No, the series would be dead to me if that occured :)

Hehe, ah okay, fair enough. Just a mis-reading on my part then. :)

A better option IMO is to buy the game outright, and then pay now and then for new content. Like the NS pack - that was well worth £5 in my eyes. Quality new maps and some cool new toys.

I strongly dislike this pay to play/use model. Users should say no to this **** now because the software companies are gonna do their best to use this new payment model and not just in games. The operating system will soon be all tangled up with the net and you'll have to pay to use **** like media player whenever you wan't to play a song on your PC.

QFT. If I want booster packs, I'll pay for them.

(Though Highway Tampa was a nice suprise thanks to Intel, but I don't see anyone going out to get a Intel processor because there were boxes with "Intel" on them in Highway Tampa. :))

I hear you guys say that you like expansion/booster packs... Well, I do to. In fact, I love(d) Armored Fury. How easy is it to find a AF or EF server?

I really don't think expansions/booster work well because they divide the playerbase...

what they need to do is is put a booster and a patch out every four months. With the patch, comes the maps from the last booster.

The people that pay for the booster will get to keep their new unlocks and get the new maps four month before people that don't buy do.

The people that don't buy the booster can get their unlocks through field upgrades and wait for the new maps in the next patch.
