Guys, please dont turn my post into a flame fest. Alll i wanted is some pointers on shaking a tail and possibly getting away from missles.

Check the link in my sig for a video on the boring way to fly the F-35.

It shows examples of stratorunning and simple evasions that are quite useful for the average pilot.

Strato is fun and can be done in any jet. Dunno about outrunning missles though. Straight up and then a 90 degree pitch so your level with the clouds and everything is shaking. You have to fly by minimap and rudder at this point. If your skilled you can come 90 degrees pitch down over your target bombing them. Then 180 back up and 90 back to strato position. Return for more fun packages ect. When being tagged by enemy missle locks, afterburn and climb, if lock breaks immidiatley turn. If lock does not break immidiatley turn. Do this while afterburning. After you have turned. Turn again, and again, and climb, circle. Find him. Kill him. Get more fun packages! If your being tagged by a ground target evade at low altitude and try to place somthing between you and the incoming missle, then climb and strato bomb the target. A really good way to have lots of fun is find your freindly jet and follow him as close as possible without colliding. Cover him. Be in the same squad if possible so you can tell him when your being tagged. I am quite good at never leaving your side and hitting things you miss.

Once you get a proper lock on and fire the missle at the right time, you can't escape it no matter how fast you go. I've zoomed along one end of Dragon valley to the other, no workey.

If you are locked on while performing strato flight, usually your screwed.
If you know where you are on the minimap (and think you can control it) you can flare and climb (good luck!) which cuases you to lose control of your aircraft.. IE Flatspin. As long as you dont tumble off map you can decrease throtle and WAIT for the nose of your plane to start pointing down, or for your altitude to lower past the 1100 mark. then you can afterburn and steer out of it. Your chances of living are still quite low.

So the general consensus is to not get locked and launched on lol? Just try to manuever around them when you see them behind you.

Generally, yes. You might want to start searching for posts and guides written by the finest BF2 pilots. TBF2 has a whole collection of such. Youre kind of left out of the whole process that took place a year ago, when many of those people were active here, its when patch 1.2 arrived and people started posting up their progress in adapting to the new ways of aerial combat. Prior to patch 1.2, generally, a jet turned slightly sharper than a missile.

                      So what to do now?
A- Know your jet, know your enemies jet, formulate the mindset from there (either be on offensive or defensive)
B- Always try to be the one who locks on first
C- Practice, practice, practice, but if youre not making conclusions, youre not making any progress

I also suggest watching jet frag videos (both air to ground and air to air). For air to ground, watch full round videos made by resident pilots like Skaggy and MetallicaGuitarrist. The best of them all is PlaneWhores video. It doesnt show how one needs to stay safe, but it will undoubtedly show you the ropes to mad efficiency against ground targets. PlaneWhores Oman full round can either be found on Google or Youtube. For air to air, see various videos from resident dogfighters, all of which are in various topics scattered around the MEDIA subforum, thats where youll find the bulk of them.

Start watching and start doing research. If you want to step up your game, youre going to need to do a LOT of work on and off the server.

                        Re: Jet defense.

There are times where getting tagged is a good thing. If you have a wingman
You can lead the enemy jet to his doom by flying in a (fairly) straight line allowing your buddy to score the kill. Most times you wont die and when you do, he does too, because in order to get that shot he has to expose his bum to your buddy.
On rare occasions I have purposely flown directly over an enemy chopper then used it as a shield between me and the missile. hehe.

                          Re: Jet defense.

I pretty much never see the skilled pilots on the server I play on actually try to outrun missiles. All they do is pull a sharp but slow turn left or right before the missiles impact and the missiles will either travel along the underside of the turning jet and fly off to nowhere (probably going off to strike a friendly), or the missiles will stop in midair, zig zag, and go off to nowhere. It's kind of annoying because you can fire 4 missiles at a MEC bomber on Clean Sweep while in the single seater American Jet and they all fail to hit. I'm guilty of using the same tactic to avoid missiles so I guess I can't complain too much, but I'd trade it in to have the ability to shoot down any plane with missiles than have it be sketchy where the missiles may bounce off or just go off to nowhere. The inconsistency is annoying.

If I'm in a J-10 I really only worry about other friendlies crashing into me or running into a static object, the aa really isn't a problem, and the F35s are no threat since you can easily just out turn them, doesn't matter whose flying them and they seem to be the easiest to take down to the point that not even the scenario I described above can save them from a full load of missiles tailing them. It seems like a 99% probability that if I see an F35 while I'm in a j10, it is going to die eventually, which is why can never understand how there are F35 pilots who can go 50 points and zero deaths on Wake particularly because if there was even a half competent pilot in the j-10 actively seeking them they'd be shot down. I feel like I'm pretty much invincible in the j10 thanks to EA.

50-0 is possible on Wake especially if one J10 is down all the time. And if you manage to get that 1st J10 down then it should be game over for Chinese

Flying F35 is the best challenge :)

Ok, i have read some guides, infact I was questioned yesterday in a server...Kubra 24/7 about how a corporal was doing so good in the jet. I was 12-1 or something in the F-18. But it was because i have over 9 hours in Jets and also i have played under a different name last year, then I sold my BF2 and re bought it lol.

                              Thanks everyone

Ranks don't matter, I have a few accounts and I am pretty often accused of hacking.

Then sometimes I like to chat with those who accuse me, that we should speak again after they have spent 400 hours in both jets and helis and they tend to shut up
