    DON'T GET A MAC! DON'T DO IT!

I speak from experience. Here are a few more of Apple's BS Statements about the Mac:

MYTH: Macs don't freeze or stutter.
FACT: Then what the fudge do you call that lovely little multi-colored rainbow spinning around for all eternity?

MYTH: Macs don't get the BSoD.
FACT: No, instead they just shut down. Honestly I would MUCH rather have a BSoD; it gives me an error code so I can diagnose the problem!

    MYTH: Macs are faster.
FACT: Speed isn't dependent on your OS, its dependent on your RAM and PCU Speed. My PC with 3 Gigs of RAM runs MUCH smoother than my Mac with the same amount.

    MYTH: Macs have better software.
FACT: Professional software such as Final Cut, Photoshop, Flash or any other Adobe products work on both PC and Mac.

I have a hard time expressing my feelings for macs. So I'll let this guy do it for me. http://ragevi.newgrounds.com/news/post/89599.

P.S. I've had this in my favorites for months. It's my secret weapon for taking out mac fanboys.

Vista doesn't suck for gaming, infact I think it's better than XP. You just need better hardware because Vista is more demanding, but in return you can have better graphics and a whole other bunch of stuff you can't do on XP.

But it's like comparing WinXP to Win98. When XP came out people thought it went horribly slow compared to 98 but noone in their right mind would use 98 now :)

And yeah, Macs suck for gaming.

yes but it takes time for a new OS to work the kinks out in order to give back superior performance. right now vista is fairly new so it's still in the working out the kinks stage. it still has a lot of hiccups with hardwares and its drivers.

You're quite wrong in a couple of points.

                      1. Macs go get BSOD, but on osx it's grey instead of blue. Since osx is unix based the number of times you'll see this is much less than in an windows environment.

                      2. The "macs are faster" or slower for that matter is quite irrelevant. If you're running a mac in bootcamp with the same cpu, ram etc as a pc the speed will be exactly the same. whether osx is faster or not than windows relies heavily on what you are doing. Run one application and windows may be snappier. Try loading tons of applications and osx will be a dream compared to windows. It's a question about what you're os is optimized for.

                      3. Macs have better software
Well, this also depends on what you are doing. I find that most freeware for osx is oftenly more well made. This depends on underlying API's and standards within osx which makes applications more consequent than their windows brothers. To sum it up, it's easier to develope a consequent and great looking application on osx than windows.

But for professional use you also get quite a lot mac only applications if you're into media development of some kind. Of course you'll get a lot of windows only applications for other environments, but hey the mac can run those too.

In the end there is some things that are good for mac users

                      1. Ambiguity, you have the possibility to run one more OS with all of it's benefits.

                      2. Less problems, since apple is putting the machines together and are developing the operating system, issues with drivers and such are less common.

                      3. Support that doesn't bounce you around, since the operating system is made for the machines the support can help you whether the problem is related to osx or your hardware instead of just telling you to call somewhere else.

Of course this isn't free, therefor some of the machines are more expensive than equivalent OEM pc hardware. Since you can't build your own machine and pick every part, it won't be perfect for everybody and it's not mainly a gamer platform.

yeah but not every PC is recommended for the SP1 update yet. windows update only lets you update if you have no hardware conflicts they haven't figured out yet. on a vista machine of mine, it still hasn't let me update it yet. they recommend not updating (manually) unless windows update allows it.

The whole XP BSOD every 10 mins is BS, I have only had count them, 3 BSODs in the near 3 and a half years Ive had my dell and one of them was my fault when I tried to do too much and totally overloaded my now old PC

Yes the other 2 were random but whoop-de-doo, thats like less then 1 a year, I can live with that.

1: I have yet to see a grey screen either. I have only gotten the BSOD/Computer Freeze/crash TWICE in the 3 years I have had it. In the 3 months I have been on my Mac, it is frozen/crashed 4 times. Thats more than one a month, compared to the one a year my PC suffered from.

2: Your joking. I normally run windows with Firefox, Teamspeak, Windows Media Player and 2142 at the same time. My mac (with the same specs) can barely handle Firefox and Photoshop at the same time... Lots of rainbows and stuttering.

3: SOME things, but there is nothing on a Mac that you can't get (the same or something that does the same) on Windows. Overall thats no reason to buy an EXTREMELY overpriced Mac.

1b: I am running windows with several Macintosh-style "Docs" (to help keep my desktop clean). Out of everything on OSX, the Docs are the only thing I truly enjoy.

2b: Try upgrading your Mac. Yes, you will experience HELL.

3b: I have never had to call support for any computer I have owned, so I couldn't care less... I fix my own problems.

                            Macs:
                            OVERpriced
                            OVERrated
OVERall not something I would invest in. Whoops, too late now

If you just knew how little I've spent on macs compared to pc's in both time and money.

I like to run different operating systems for different tasks. I would never use anything but windows and a regular pc for gaming, if that's what you want to hear. Still a gamer forum needs opinions from both sides.
