    The Catch?

I am curious to see how this game turns out, it looks promising.

But lets face it, this is EA so there is always going to be some catch, some bottom line.

After all, nothing is for free.

Anyway, I was reading this article:

One thing in particular raised my eyebrow so to speak.

He began talking about the games industry in South Korea. That market has become well known in the past few years for creating a new way of delivering games, where they are free to download and play, but where a small number of users pay for inexpensive items called ‘micro-transactions’, which provide revenue for the project.
I know its way way way early to say anything, but just for fun I figured I throw out one way this could end up.

All the cool items like that skelly mask would have to be bought with real money.

That is unless I am interpreting this concept wrong, which may be the case but I do not think so.

But at the end of the day it will be a free game to play, and you cant beat that.

Because its 'free' then in theory you have around £30 to spend on stuff before you can really complain.

The interesting thing is that as a consumer you would actually have power, if the game is as buggy as hell then they make less money, if the extra items were pants no one would buy them. It does in theory force a certain level of care and support.
Its an interesting revenue model for games since it forces the developer to make something worth the money before they can actually make money, rather than having our cash upfront and it not really mattering what the product is like.

The game will be completely free to play, but you can pay small amounts of money to be able to get a new hat and etc for your character. You can not buy more guns or something that gives you an advantage over other players.

      Good enough for me :)

After looking at the screenies, all of those dudes running around with their customized and accessorized outfits look like a bunch of nancy-boys. But, I'll have fun shooting them, too.

        Vanilla characters FTW! :colinloves:

The micro transaction issue was brought ages ago.
Its (according to Cousins), a method of earning for visual/superficial use, i.e. moustaches, clothes, etc. AFAIK, weapons and improvements were not mentioned.
