Cries! Cries! Tears! Tears! "We need a tactical CQB shooter!"

No, we dont need half-as5ed efforts at moneygrabbing, so dont say "Vegas".

Ive just gone through SP campaign of both Vegas, Vegas 2 and GRAW. First things first, I like Clancy-esque stories. They even kept me playing the godawful Sam Fisher games. Having gone through the excellent, albeit lacking SP campaign of Vegas 2 (and what a fine ending to a story, the reason for catastrophe was simply one mans ego), and having played a few games of SWAT4 with my friend, I came to the realization of how much I miss the scene.

The fast pace of UT/Quake-esque games, combined with realistic and tactical nature, best of both worlds. Playing through GRAW2 at highest difficulty, comparing it to Vegas2 "realistic" setting, CQB and conventional gameplay are world apart.

And considering the fact that former champion of the genre, R6 will never be seen catering to its former fans, what else is there for me?

Please, people, make a great COD4 realism mod. Id like a fast paced CQB action game, lots of indoor combat, coupled with the awesome and cool gadgetry the black ops teams use. Snake cams, trip charges, camera charges, various kinds of room clearing apparel, maybe even fastropes! Id like a game that would put my brain to the test, simultaneously doing the same to my reflexes, and being so tight knit and compacted, that Id get that R6, SAS, SWAT feeling. Barricaded suspects.

Or is there another company doing just that? I heard separatists from Ubisuxx are actually making something akin to my dreams.

I dont want to play arkade crap for the rest of my life. And I dont have enough money to buy tha high tech sh!t to airsoft with.

    Whos with me?

I would probably try out a realism mod for cod4 as I like realism time-to-time, and I like mods in general.

But have you ever tried america's army? I think it has what you're looking for, except that it's not fast paced. Although, I've never played a simulator that was fast paced

He said he likes indoor combat, which is why I suggested americas army

The good thing about america's army is that it's free

America's Army is pretty simple. Shoot enemies and complete objectives. The only "fancy" equipment are door breachers & thermite nades.

But it might not be as fast paced as you wanted. Think a much slower Counterstrike.

But the thing with americas army is that it's made to be a simulator. It's a game made by the actual US army designed as a recruitment tool. They tried to make the gameplay as realistic as possible

You didnt like the splinter cell games? I found them to be excellent, choas theory being my favorite. After that was horrible, but the first 3 were very fun and great stealth action game.

Exactly, I never said it was a bad thing, just that it might not be as fast paced as he wanted.

So i think Armed Assault fits to that formula... You have to be careful when moving around(and be aware of your surroundings), and as soon as something happens, you have to react to it...

And allthough America's Army is made by US Army, for some reason, Armed Assault feels like real simulation.

What was wrong with the Splinter Cell games after Chaos Theory? I found Double Agent to be quite interesting with the non-linear storyline due to choosing to complete objectives for either faction.

Splinter Cell games are like Hitman series, out of 1000 possible ways to get the path crossed, you can pick the right one and then never have to do it in a different way again. For what its worth, I finished Chaos Theory, but Id rather read a SC book than play the games. Not for me, but I see the audience that likes it.

I played Americas Army for about 100 hours. First of all, its an Army sim, so its throwing a soldier into anything from indoor to open combat, so theres no specialization. No gadgets, youre constantly either setnading or camping. Nothing wrong with that, but its not exactly what I love. Think SWAT. Room entries with snake cams, with a variety of LTL grenades, door wedges and specifically created maps for such purposes. Think R6 with thermal scan, dynamic and stealthy entries, customizable weaponry, aswell as loadout, and when the round starts, even though its a solid tactical shooter, sh!t still hits the fan. Thats CQB, chaotic, fast, agressive and determined.

ArmA doesnt even fit the profile, not even nearly. Its like GRAW of the Clancy franchise. Its for some people, definitely not for me.

Like I drew an example, a good fast response team CQB shooter is like a crossover between Unreal Tournament and a hardcore simulator.

The problem with realistic shooters is the more you open the spaces, the slower it gets. So it really only delivers the speed in a cover-abundant, small spaces. Like SWAT4 maps.

At first it seems so but the better you get, or the better your opponents are, the more CS/CoDishish the game gets. I`ve seen rounds end and ended rounds (ego ) in less than 1 minute, steamrolling over the opfor like its 1997.

The game is extremely fun though, but only when you`re good at it and know everything about it.

The only SC I like is Chaos Theory, others are, imo, either too pussified or buggy/consolized. (played em all except for the one on the psp)

I just threw that ArmA to there...

But to be serious... There isn't really anything what would fit to the SWAT 4 like gameplay... Atleast i don't know about them...
