Irony at its finest. You refuse to listen to well qualified and skilled folks.Originally posted by DysplasiaObviously nobody will ever win this argument because nobody listens to each other, just close the thread already, it's useless.
I wont speak for him, but my very first Hardcore game was a laughing fest. I logged into Pipeline, started running around in the tunnels with a supressed MP5, which has 40HP damage and 20HP at range. I died the first time somewhere around 40 something kill mark, and it was because I experimented with something. I rolled the server so bad, that I would have easily ended up with a 100:1 KDR at the end of the round. I didnt need crosshairs because the center of the screen is the crosshairs itsself. I didnt camp once, and all I did was run around and jumping at people. It was a massacre and I felt sorry for the other team, none of which had a KDR above 1:1 (even though when I logged in, some of them had quite a good score). I wiped people off with 1-2 shots, and since it was CQC, I noticed that 1 shot was all it took, even though I hosed them usually, for good measure.Spik3d- Right... right... Show me your "proof" and maybe I'll believe you.
Its easier to kill in HC, a LOT easier. And yes, its easier to die too, but its significantly easier to deal with camping people in an unpredictable environment, than it is to deal with skilled players in the same one.
HC is a nightmare in objective games, and only because literally everyone sits at their position, and goes for the kills only.Comment

Alright man, have it your way. I've been reasonable enough, but you just can't seem to grasp the fact that 95% of the time a single deagle (just as an example) shot will down a target in hardcore WITHOUT a headshot.Originally posted by DysplasiaObviously nobody will ever win this argument because nobody listens to each other, just close the thread already, it's useless.
Zuke- They're called headshots.
Spik3d- Right... right... Show me your "proof" and maybe I'll believe you.
I play this game just as much, if not more, than you. Don't think I'm oblivious to how things work.
Anyways, Keyelite and Chris_Redfield have completely summed up the thread.Comment

this thread doesn't need to be locked because there's a chance someone will join the forums and want to vote in the poll. Keep the discussions friendly and there will be no need for a lock.
just because you've stated your OPINION doesn't mean the thread needs to be locked now.Comment

Re: The friendly HC or SC poll!
Ok the way I see it there are 3 arguments in the thread that are confusing people
Argument 1.
HC takes less actual shots that register to kill someone, fact (excluding snipers)
Argument 2.
SC takes only 4 bullets to achieve a kill, (they all have to hit) Fact
Argument 3.
(the one I was trying to explain)
If you count all the factors involved in a kill, server lag, player skill, opponent skill, cover density, range, the actual kill figures are more like:
4-5 shots fired at each target in HC to guarantee kill
6-9 shots fired in SC to guarantee kill
------------------------------------------------------------------------
^It was that that I have been trying to get across. Its all well and good people pulling raw data, but you need to refine it and consider other variables before quoting the numbers as fact.
The point is, you rarely get a one hit or two hit kill since the chances of bullets passing through a wall or some other material are high, which reduces damage which means you need more.Comment

Re: The friendly HC or SC poll!
another one always spawns in its place a week later, the (futile) debate is inevitable
Well, the same is true the opposite way around. It's going to take the same amount of bullets to take you down as well. So you have to consider if you like dying instantly or like having a chance to take cover, among other things. If you count all the factors involved in a kill, server lag, player skill, opponent skill, cover density, range, the actual kill figures are more like:
4-5 shots fired at each target in HC to guarantee kill
6-9 shots fired in SC to guarantee kill

Re: The friendly HC or SC poll!
People are not confused, some are just too fanboys and elitists.
Yes.Argument 1.
HC takes less actual shots that register to kill someone, fact (excluding snipers)
No. Its anywhere between 2 and 5. Excluding shotguns and snipers. Any weapon can kill anyone if shot directly, within maximum range, in or in less than 5 shots.Argument 2.
SC takes only 4 bullets to achieve a kill, (they all have to hit) Fact
Heres the ending argument. Its statistically a much, much lower chance to hit 5 shots out of 10 shots fired, than to hit 2 shots out of 10 shots fired. And its not 50% and 20%. I cant be arsed to do the maths.
Youll have to go through Bernouills equations on this one, but its just going to confirm what I just said.
The difference between getting 1-2 hits out of a 10 round burst, compared to a 4-5 hit chance out of a 10 round burst, is astronomical. When we take RCOF and recoil, target movement, netcode, lag and ping into equation, it becomes evident that a SC player has to struggle that much harder, to get the kill, than a HC player.Comment

Re: The friendly HC or SC poll!
What recoil? Only weapons in CoD4 that have any recoil that might mess up your aim is sniper rifle and those are bolt action/semi auto anywaysThe difference between getting 1-2 hits out of a 10 round burst, compared to a 4-5 hit chance out of a 10 round burst, is astronomical. Re: The friendly HC or SC poll!
Looks like someone has never played COD4.
Try shooting any weapon (MP5 in particular) in a prolongued burst at a distant target. Maybe then the OBVIOUS recoil appears to you.Comment

Re: The friendly HC or SC poll!
G3 and M16 has recoil but it goes back to original aim point before you click again
But hey, we should complain about battlefield 2's hitboxes. We should be lucky with what we have in terms of hitting someone and actually having it count.Comment
