If I'm running around in a TDM I'll play music, but for any serious gameplay I turn it off. My ears are my friend (except for the times when I put my headset on backwards)

depends if im gaming alone, then i will play music or listen to radio.

If there are friends playing then its off since im normally on skype talking to them.

i like to use traction now and then, but i tend to play a lot of S&D, so radio/music is not good if u want to play good!

I listen to very quiet music when I play. It's loud enough to hear when the game's silent, but I can still hear others' footsteps.

I can listen to music when I'm dead.

I have my store-bought-hax called "Logitech Headset" in-use to hear Sogeking trying to sneak-up on me.

between 10 and 11 PM i play without sound and actually think i do a bit better in certain areas (target acquisition for example)

i NEVER listen to music to gaming

I have been playing css for about 3 years and it does it to you. even some may not know but you can hear footsteps in cod4 but not as easy as css. now if you play FFA or TDM on big servers then i guess it would be ok being that you will die fast and re spawn but for SSD or small server i keep my music off.
