To modify the localization files In CoD 4 like in Bf games making the Kill messages different etc?

Just wondering would be cool if you could change your kill message

I don't think you can lemon - I think he was referring to BF2.

I know you can do a lot of customization to your config file, making binds and such and customizing certain options (fov, maxfps, decals, etc.) but I'm not sure you can make changes similar to those in BF2.

In those games it was easy to do...

I personally modded those 'strings' file for my own language(Finnish).

But in Cod4, those .IWD files are full loading screen images, and sounds from the game. The localization files could be there somewhere, but atleast i haven't found them...

Was the "you pwned" message in the chat? If it was, it could be hack. I've seen those messages pop up when someone is hacking. It's the same thing as the Mombot message.

Yeah, mombot and similar hacks use those messages - and they are in chat, they aren't actually modifying the existing kill messages.

If StoneCold is right about the location of the messages (in .IWD's) I'm 99% sure you can't mess with them without being kicked for modified data.

You can do your own messages to chat. But you need to hit a key when you kill someone, and it doesn't put the name in.

/bind A "say Visit www.totalcod4.com" now every time you hit the A key it will display that ingame. (thanks D34D1Y).

So you can replace that "visit www.totalcod4.com" for example with "LOLOLOLOL U g0t 0wn3d!!!one1111"

And im pretty sure that PB checks the .IWD files. So there is no way of changing them...

I was just going through them few days ago, and there is some funny clips from the game. Like "Kaboom", "This is gonna be one hell of an highlight reel", "Oopsie Daisy" from AC-130 mission.

And then there was these sounds what im not so sure where they are from. There was "Be advised, we are coming in hot, hit the deck", "Cluster bombs coming down, have a nice day", "Roger, bring in the pain, stand by", "Dropping the hammer, stand by", "Original recepie, extra crispy, over", "Yeah, duck and cover a**holes", "bombs away, bombs away", and "package has been deliverd, have a nice day".

They seem to be like Air support radio messages, but i don't remember hearing them in the SP...

Yeah, I have chat binds, but I was talking about binds that automatically display when you kill somebody - which as I think you've said, isn't possible.

My favorite bind is Rainbowned (with colors) - completely unique :)

I know that you were talking about those "hack binds"... But i tought that i'd just mention the normal key binds...

I really doubt that you can get those autobinds without an hack...

But it would be cool if you could edit the localization files like in BF2/2142.

Clientside - no.

Serverside - yes.

So if you're thinking of creating a server that displays "Player X 'just destoryed' Player Y 'with a freaking ak47' at a distance of 150 yards" - which could popup as a message like teamchat/chat or could replace the kill obituary part... then you'd need to modify the data and create a mod then add it to the server...
