I didn't get reset, but still I couldn't be madder. This is just wrong. Actually I hope they reset everyone. No rank, no unlocks. If they are going to burn that many dedicated clean players, may has well knock everyone down to the starting line.

Unfortunately, EA doesn't seem to care, although I suppose it's understandable since the game is as old as it is. Strange that they have time to erase the stats of players, but they allow servers like this to continue. Well, the rain it raineth on the just, I suppose. :hmm:

Well I wish I had a screen shot of the BF2Player leader board, our clan leader board. You would see. All of those players that were 3 stars or better are now privates.

DakotaDoc: I can imagine how losing stats can feel bad, I really can. If it had happened to me I think I'd just let them go and focus on what I always try to do, play for fun. Since EA have abandoned the community no point is made by trying to help them pursue the hackers. This game was, even from the start, an easy game to hack and manipulate and way too much trust has been put into PunkBuster.Comment

why do people care about stats? ill tell you why i care, it gives me goals to work towards (badges etc.) thereby keeping the game more interesting over the longhaul... whats the big deal if people care about stats anyways?Comment

I asked for a stat reset. Got flamed. Then again, it was back in '06.
If you were to ask "who cares about stats?" the answer would be "most (95%) of the people on this forum".
I support wholeheartedly a stat reset. It would give some life back into the game :)
By the way: Reading over this thread, that Sniper guy really is mentally disadvantaged.Comment

The cheaters did not hack people accounts. They used their own accounts, perhaps with a name-spoof and played on modded servers which give out millions of points.
But, see it from EA's point of view. They don't know who is legitimate and who is not, and they couldn't go around asking everyone. They see an account on 16million points, they remove it.
The only way to fix the issue would be to fix the name spoofing issue, and the problem lies in BF2's coding. Seeing as the game is getting old now, it's not worth them investing time and money in fixing a problem that only effects a small number of players.
It is just something we will have to put up with.
And, btw, i love stats. I think they have a place in the Battlefield series, but need to be implemented properly.Comment

Yes they did, they PID hacked them.The cheaters did not hack people accounts.
BTW it wasn't "1000's" of accounts, but just over 1000 that got caught up in this.Comment
