well, i just had my first experience in commanding.... 11:03 minutes to be exact. my god, people are so stupid! for most of the round we had no commander, then my squad leader asked me to be it, so i was. when i took command, we had no sat-track, no UAV, no EMP strike, and no Orbital Strike. all of those were knocked out. all we had was supply drops. i asked my squad leaders to send their squads to take and repair those devices, but only a few actually did it. i didnt see the actual battles, but i hope they tried. in any case, i did my best, but to no avail. then just before our tickets ran out, they mutinied, or at least tried to.
my god, what did they want me to do?
    i dont get some people.....

you can repair your own toys as a commander by placing a supply drop. but think about it because:
1you are taking away a tactical asset for something strategecall, supplies are a tactical "wapon" that will make your team win a fight. but if you do repair your assets you will get a better wapon instead: emp strike orb strike and uav. sat scan isnt needed that much for your team but it gives the commander less things to do.

2 the recon who blew the assets can ressuply himself and take out the assets if they are repaired so it works against you(not much you only lose one or more supply drops and an enemie in the fight: he is busy blowing your toys into pieces).

LOL! That's the evil of dropping supply crates in your own base, isn't it? Remember, there's three strategic objects to blow in the base that take two RDX each. Clearly the enemy recon guy will run out of RDX before nailing all three - but the supply crate could just provide him with that extra pack.

Or worse, the crate repairs your strategic objects, only for him to blow them up again!

it depends if you play titan you have 3 assets in conquest 4. and most recons use 3 rdxes instead of 2 because the dont know the "trick". if you want to be a good commander you should calculate the pros and the cons and then take a decision. it depends on your team and the enemies.

              whats the "trick?"
btw, when you RDX a "toy," do you have to put it on a certain part of the "toy," or can it be anywhere on it?

The "trick" basically is that you can destroy the assets with 2 RDX.
                Can be anywhere...

but it only works(or works for me) if you place it near the ground and on opposite sites of eachother. so one near the ground on the left and one near the ground on the right

Oh really? For me it works placing them both on top of each other. Then again I am not RDXing assets that often. Might have been luck the last times.

so basically ur telling me that the myth is that u need 3 RDX, but you really only need 2? lol.

I think so. However, I also have never heard of that myth before. I kinda always try and error stuff. Place one RDX first and see what happens. Oh, still working. So I place another one and whoops, it's destroyed. :yay:

Man, that's weird? I haven't really gone blowing up assets a lot in my time, but if the opportunity presents itself.... :)

Anyways, I've only ever put two RDXs on the base assets and have blown them everytime. I've not even been fussy as to where I've put them - just chucked them both on - sprint away and BOOM!

sempf - I'm a titan player mainly, so I did forget the orbital strike asset in conquest too! :)

its best to be engineer when playing commander because you can immediatley repair your toys. This saves the supply drops for more important things, like keeping a walker alive or giving troops ammo. I usually camp out near the assets. If you scan frequently you will see the recons coming to blow up your stuff and catch them off guard. I will sometimes let them blow up one asset and then kill them while they are trying to blow up the next. Protecting the assets while commanding gives you something more to do than just staring at the commander screen. You might get lucky and have the same guy try and blow up your stuff over and over even though you have killed him the last 20 times he has attempted to do this

I always get some idiot try to come knife me while I'm staring at the commander screen. I catch him every time. Then I drop my balls in his face. Every time.

hooahguy, I was playing the game you commanded on. Don't worry, you'll learn all the little tricks with time. You should play on less populated servers. No wonder you die so much!
