Well its been almost 2 years since i visited this section of the forums and played BF2 but recently i have right back into the game where i left off. But things have changed which i would like to ask a few questions about.

When im connecting to the login server it used to take around 20 seconds and then send me straight into my BFHQ. Whereas now it takes about 5 minutes then straight away sends me into loading a server of which it is usually empty?

Whats this about and why is it happening?

You are clicking the "Play BF2 Online Now" button. Never click that. It sucks feces from Rosanne Barr's butt. Click the normal shortcut.

no its before i get to that, its at the stage where i login to my soldier, after i click that login button it takes around 4 or 5 minutes then starts loading a server?

I know for me the server took about 1min to load, do you have vista if you do try going into properties and go "run as admin".

Its not about how long the map is taking to load.

When i click my icon and the videos run i have to click login to profile, its this logging in that takes ages and when it finally is done, it chucks me into some random server?

I dont go to the BFHQ or anything first.

yes its the icon on your desktop ur clicking... before the game even opens!...
ur clicking the online icon and not the normal BF2 icon..

the "play online" icon looks exactly the same u just have to read it to disstiguish the difference..

u said to run as admin.. that wont stop the problem if he is opening the "play online" icon.. running as admin will only stop any "os privlages" errors from popping up when trying to join a server..

The other thing to do is clear out your favorite servers. Just pare it down to the ones that you actually want in there. It will speed up your connection to the account server time.

Well its the least of my problems now, all i get is the usual 50ping jumping to 500 and the "There is a problem blah blah...."

Then im kicked for losing key packets.

I manually updated punkbuster and still no change.

ok some of the new versions of punkbuster (e.g. PnkBstrA and PnkBstrB) are sometimes getting blocked by different anti viruses and firewalls because they have not yet been updated.. and punkbuster will actually kick u stating u have lost key packets.. the best thing i can advise u do is remove the updated punkbuster programs.. or just do a re-install and dont update the punkbusters :)

That is about the most retarded thing I have seen posted here. If you remove punkbuster or refuse to update it, sure, you won't have your ping jumping all over the place. That's because you won't be able to play. :shakehead

your 27 years old.. im sure ur capable of replying to a post without being insulting..

anyway.. how would he fix the problem then? when i installed BF2 i never (to my knowledge) updated Punkbuster.. and everything works fine.. he is telling us that he has updated punkbuster and that hes having these problems.. that from what i have read are directly related to the newer version of punkbuster..

The_Eliminator.. are u using McAfee Security Center ?

try going into ur antivirus and firewall settings and see if punkbuster has been added to ur blocked list.. if so unblock it.
