I really hope IW dont base the new PC maps off the most played maps...

In short some of the best player created maps out there are the ones that don't get played and its a crime.

There are only a handful of modded servers that play custom maps with good consistent numbers and they tend to use the same ones or ones of lets say not the most fantastic quality while these great maps are going unplayed.

I just hope that IW have the sense to not include the most 'played' but the maps that they think are the most playable and suit COD4.

Yes I realise that this would increase the amount of work since player number usually = good map, but not in this case I think, it would mean sifting through them all manually though :hmm:

    anyone else agree/disagree?

They put a lot of thought into the current maps, each small part is there for a reason. I'm sure they will have the same criteria for custom maps

In your title "don't" should be "doesn't" and as far as your point goes, I agree. Some of the custom maps that get played more often are just meh, but there are also some good custom maps that are getting played often b/c they are good maps. I imagine IW will take the time to choose the best maps.

whoops typo, there are some good quality maps that are played fairly regularly Im just hoping they will have to vet them all not just go with the numbers.

Maps released in the map-pack will be a reflection on what the game itself can do graphics-wise, as well as user-design.

I honestly can't see them picking "basic" maps, even if they are popular. I think they'll go for high eye-candy, as well as good playability...they may even adjust some things (obstacles, etc) on the maps before releasing them.

          I wouldn't worry too much.

Personally, I'd like to see a game developer have a "Ranked Map submission program" where maps are approved by the dev team or some group they designate to approve maps. That'd certainly keep the ranked servers going for a much longer time, and those maps could perhaps also be brought over to the Xbox version as free downloadable content. It's definitely a great way to encourage mapping and keep your player base strong, not to mention giving some great mappers some credit (I mean seriously, in games with ranking systems, how popular are custom map servers?).

I`d like em to ditch the ranking bs all together or enable ranking on all servers, no matter what mod or map played. The ranking here is a joke anyway and means absolutely **** all.
